So I decided...

I have always liked Half-Life 2 (check out my Steam Profile) and I have played the original Half-Life but not very good (With cheats) and it was not the legal version of it so it had some bugs.

So today I finally decided to buy Half-Life, Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life: Blue Shift.

Now before I’m going to play those games what do you guys recommend me:

  1. Play it now?
  2. First play Black-Mesa and then play Half-Life 1.

Definitely play HL1 first. If you play Black Mesa first it’ll ruin your opinion of the original, and that’s just not right. Plus you’ll probably be waiting a fair while before you get to play Black Mesa, so at least you’ll get to play Half-Life within the next 6 months or so!

Play HL1 first, then you’ll have nostalgic moments in Black Mesa

HL1 FTW!

Half-Life 1.

Wasn’t there a thread like this already?

Half Life 1, Blue Shift, Opposing Force THEN Black Mesa. HL1 will set you up for BM, and BS is pretty disappointing, making OP4 far more fun to play after.

Ok, thanks guys I am already on the chapter with the chopper battle.

Does anyone know just how long it takes to beat HL1 on an average play through (without bunny hopping or skipping chapters)?

also after playing BLACK MESA you can wait again to play oppossing force in source (OBM) then wait for when some1 does blue shift in source and then you will be more happy than never.

Play HL1 first. Why? Because this mod was designed to be a remake of HL1, by people who played HL1 zillions of times, and almost everyone on this forum has played it at least a couple of times, so no one expects anyone to play Black Mesa without playing HL1 first. It won’t ruin the surprises I think. It’s like reading a book and then watching a movie based on the book, it can be really cool to read the book first. Either way, you’re not going to do any harm to your gaming experience, but I think that since now you bought HL1, go and play it!

I’m gonna make my kids play the original HL and then play the other ones. That way they go through my path of gaming. You’ll most likely like the game if you play the first one of the series first.

I’m gonna make my kids brush their teeth and go to school

I’m gonna make my kids
