Skyrim sound question

I have an external sound card that works best if the settings are 24 bits 96khz.

However, if I play Skyrim with these settings, I get an ugly interference-like sound. If I put it on 24 bits 48khz it works fine.

Is there a way to automatically change that setting each time I open skyrim and change it back once I close it?

I don’t know of any way to automatically switch the setting when you play the game, but in all likelihood you won’t notice much (or any) of a difference in other games or applications if you just leave it at the 24-bit 48kHz setting - most games have their sounds and music encoded as 16-bit 44.1kHz or 48kHz.

I thought this was fixed with the 1.2 update.

The sound card was designed to work with the 96 khz setting, so you get a very low sounding hum if you set it at a lower sample rate (that disappears while you play a song or any kind of media, like a game’s audio).

Apparently it was, but a lot of more important things got messed up too.

Waiting for 1.3 to update.
