Here’s the screenshots of the E1M1 I was working on for Half-Life. Or at least as far as I got with it before it got lost forever. The first image is of a hangar bay I added to the map before the original Doom starting point, since in Doom the map was called “Hangar” and had nothing resembling a hangar in it.

so i made this as a mod for Amnesia: the dark descent. It was a 3 week environment challenge, the goal was to have no monsters or puzzles, just focus on making an environment. The thread can be read here.

Made my first ever map for Source.
It’s only these two areas. I only built this to learn the ropes, so to speak.
Basically you start out, kill some vortigaunts, go upstairs to the second room, and find a code to enter on a keypad to unlock the door that ends the map.
Nice detailing and use of BM props. Lighting looks a bit rough though, you might have to tweak some things in advanced compile to get your shadows looking better. Smaller shadow maps, static prop shadows, etc.
Thanks for the suggestion! I see what you mean and I agree it could definitely use some smaller lightmap scales and better lighting.
