I prefered HL1 for a number of reasons, one being, the unique enemies, something I thought HL2 didn’t have. In my opinion, the Combine were the worst enemies I’ve come across, totally unimaginitive, like come on, they were storm troopers in black and white. Surely an ‘Alien Race that enslaved Earth’ would actually look a bit alien, like the Advisors are floating Blobs. Bah, I just generally hate the Combine.
The way HL2 started confused me. at the end of HL1 if you accepted gmans offer, did it carry on from then? What happened to his HEV suit (Gman said he could keep that in the final scene) Hmm.
HL1 immersed you into the story and gameplay a lot better than the second, in my opinion at least. One moment your walking through fine, seeing everyone doing their normal job then things turn upside down and you had to make it out alone, the puzzles, the gameplay, the enemies just were laid out in a perfect way to me when I first played it. HL2 annoyed me again about having to cower and run from the combine going through sewage tunnels, it made me want to go ‘Screw you lot, I’m Gordon Freeman’ ._.
Bah, I could rant all day about things I don’t like, I enjoyed the game and that just the Combine ruined it for me
(And I’m in love with the original, goldsrc ftw)
I’ve played HL1 & HL:Source and there isn’t that big difference, though go Original for some awesome mods
(azure sheep
wanted!) but Source parts are the ragdoll effects (Hardly noticable if your speeding though, sometimes can act weird) and shiny water (Which looks beautiful in places) Luckily I got it gifted for me by a friend just for the Gmod props and npcs but it isn’t worth it.
Hmm, as for people disliking the graphics, they’re just dated. I’ve played Half Life since launch so I guess I’m used to it but if your reading this and are put off by the look, your missing out D:
This post has gone on for way to long ._. I ramble on to much but meh. Get opposing force and blue shift as well, good games. 1st post w00t ^-^
