Croteam has revealed that Serious Sam 4 is currently planned for a Q4 2014 release.

I haven’t even played the third one yet, it likely wasn’t too good and didn’t sell much since it’s not being talked about at all, pretty much a non-commercial IP.
This is great, I wasn’t expecting it this soon. Can’t wait to see some gameplay and how they upgraded the engine and graphics. Wonder if they’ll go back to how the guns and general gameplay worked in the other games. I know a lot of people complained about the reloading, sprint, and iron sights on a few guns. I don’t generally mind them though so it doesn’t bother me.
3 was pretty good but the first few levels didn’t feel much like Serious Sam. And it’s not like it’s a massive AAA game so it doesn’t need to sell as much as they do. The game cost $500 thousand to make and they made almost all of that back with their recent Humble Bundle sale, so taking into account that and how much they made just from selling it normally, SS4 should be able to have at least twice the budget of SS3 with some money still left over.
Serious Sam 3 didn’t have enough ammo for the larger weapons. It also had some poor level design here and there that made progress harder than it should have been. It was ok, but I still liked First Encounter the best of the bunch.
4 isn’t going to be as good as first encounter either, but I’m still stoked.
Oh, I will still buy it. I need that oldschool feel back in my life for a few hours. If it is more fun than 3 it will be well worth the price too. Some cooperative might be fun as well.
