Serious Sam 2014

Posted on Guru3D forums.

“Not sure if there are any Serious Sam players here…”

“Humble Bundle added Serious Sam recently, it included this image and stated that all the funds earned from the SS bundle will go into the development of next Serious Sam game, which will be “the craziest and greatest Serious Sam game ever” and will come out in 2014.”

I’m fucking ready

Dunno, no offense to any SS fans, but I think it’s dead… it’s not very popular nowadays.

Doesn’t matter, It’s singleplayer. Not our fault that everyone else is missing out on the grand ole times

Wonder if they’ll keep the direction of SS3 or try to go with the feel of the earlier games. They changed quite a bit of weapons for SS3 and I’d prefer a more colorful locale as well.

What is happening to the Eiffel tower in the background there? It looks like it’s turning into rubber.

‘Give a man a bullet, he’ll want a gun. Give a man a gun, he’ll be giving away the bullets!’

Let’s get this train going, good ole times are shinin upon us

A shooter that the focus is shooting?
where is this world coming to?!

You are not very popular nowadays and yet still appear to be not-dead.

Dotard: can’t even stand up to his own ideology.

Can’t wait.

I’m here for your amusement. By not popular anymore I meant the meta scores and sales not too good for SS3. The last game was the very same thing as those before it, just with better graphics.

It’s a niche game made to scratch a specific itch for mindless horde shooting, it was never planned to compete directly in the mainstream market, so huge sales and godlike scores are never expected in these types of games.

What’s the point of making games that won’t sell because their market is niche then? Sounds like a waste of resources to me, unless SS 2014 is a reboot with a sensible story and gameplay that has more to it than gory slaying of mutated hordes.

Some people like to make games for fun and for love of videogames. Besides, Croteam is still around, so I guess they had enough sales to stay afloat.

Not to mention variety is the spice of life. If everyone decided to try to make the same damn game over and over again, the whole industry would crash. Things are bad enough with developers competing to get some of the CoD pie.

Persona 4 would be considered catering to a niche, as well (hardcore, traditional super hard JRPG), and that game got very high marks and sold strongly despite being released on the PS2 very late in it’s life cycle.

Are you doing this on purpose?

What do you mean?

Have you any idea how boring games would be if they were all trying to be compelling, worth-the-60-dollars schindlers list knockoffs?

Some people like to play stuff built around the idea that making things die is fun.
Games that know what they are and don’t think they’re going to revolutionize the market by hiring a bunch of chowderhead slovaks to do the art direction
