serious issue with crackling speakers:

basicly getting horrible crackling sound(s) all the time when my speakers are on. however, these are new and I had the same with a previous pairso I’m guessing it’s an issuer on the PC. any thoughts?

many thx.

Got the same problem with the speakers on my laptop, an Asus G73. For me its an issue with Realtek drivers messing with something.

In most cases in that kind of problem, it’s usually software related.

interesting, I assumed it would be a hardware issue with the port on the computer.

thanks.

in English we say drivers not pilots

lol

I had this very problem a few years back, and it was the drivers for the soundcard, as mentioned

The last time my speakers were crackling was from the sound card kicking the bucket. Of course it goes without saying that if there is a lot of dust in the PC case that might also contribute to the problem. I would however try rolling back the drivers first to see if that was the problem.

I once had intermittent sound from a built in sound card then it turned out it was a faulty jumper installed on the front panel connector.

everytime someone in the house turns on a light my speakers make a crackle sound and if I turn the speaker’s volume to the max I can hear radio.

Your speakers aren’t shielded properly, if they’re old a new set should solve that problem

they aren’t that old, it’s the Logitech X-530 5.1 speaker set with extension cables, which are probably the problem.

I get a distinct crackle from my PC speakers when I touch my mouse and drag my foot on the carpet. That one is making me nervous. It is a new phenomenon.

Tried any different options if it wasn’t software related? different port? headphone port etc? if not remove and update drivers/software audio.

2 things to try first:
-Plug your speakers into a different source, like a CD or MP3 player. Do they still crackle?
-Try plugging headphones into your soundcard. Any crackling?

This will give you a nice starting point so you know where the problem is

If you mean electrical extension, try sticking a ferrite bead on the cable
