September 11 Quran Burning

Its not the actual religion i have a problem with. Its the severe lack of disrespect for there environments. People say they move to country’s like the UK to get out of a dangerous place, thats fair enough. But that doesn’t mean they can treat the area like its fucking Mumbai. You know, there is meaning behind the phrase filithy arabs, apparently.

It costs nothing to keep your house tidy and not to throw your filthy shit into the street.

Guys, stop being bigots. You’re being no better than the asshole who made this thread’s topic possible.

:retard:

oh cool its called off now. guess it turns out that guy was a coward as well as an asshole. countdown until he gets his own fox news show

lol the minister who was going to burn them says that he canceled it because they agreed to move the community center, even though the cleric in charge of the project said no such arrangement was made

and p-thunder you’re either a laughably bad troll or an ugly ass teenager QQing at how life turned out for u

He said he canceled it, but I expect come saturday the Dove Outreach (bigotry) Centre will still be having it’s weenie roast, and someone carrying the Qurans will “accidentally” trip and they’ll fall in the fire.

And I want to make my views a bit clearer here. Now, I realize I’ll probably piss off some close-minded people with this post, but here goes.
Imagine, if you will, that all religions (cults not included, of course) are houses. These houses all have the exact same foundation. Sure, the Buddhist house is a bit sparsely furnished, and the Muslim house is decorated differently than the others, and sure, the Christian house looks exactly like the Jewish house except it has a second floor and more garden sheds, etc. etc. etc., but they’re all built on the same foundation of Peace, Tolerance, and Love. The stories told inside the houses are different, God’s name varies, and the amount of Gods there are (even 0, yes, atheists, that’s right, under my personal definition, you too could have a religion without changing your beliefs!) varies as well, but deep down inside, they’re all really the same.
Peace, Tolerance, and Love. Why can’t we just get along? We all have this in common. We are all God’s people, even if, as atheists believe, ‘God’ is just an improbable event that lead to life developing on the planet.

No, Islam is not based on tolerance and love. Its based on tolerance and love of people who believe the same way. The same applied for Christianity until recently.

You have to understand that Peace and Love are idealist garbage that will never actually control humanity. Indeed, it is against human nature, and we probably wouldn’t be where we are today had people just sat in a circle and settled their differences from the beginning of humanity.

I wonder how hot dogs taste when roasted over Holy Books?

For many religious people, yes. That’s the thing about religion though: its almost entirely up to the believer to interpret it. Clearly, some see reason for murder and bloodshed while others see reason for peacemaking and love.

Well, not God, technically speaking, but… Whatever sparked Evolution.

Are you a hippy?

so what’s it like not knowing what you’re talking about?

@jeff

so you’re saying that religious people don’t believe in evolution?

This thread has diminished the respect I had for Paddy significantly. I had no idea you were such a prejudice bigot.

Yes, they can move to your country. And yes, they have every right to act like they normally do, because that’s their fucking culture. You can’t expect them to totally convert to your way of living because they are next door. It’s pretty fucking disgraceful that people still think like that, imo.

They act different because they ARE different. They have a different way of living. Different religion. Different customs. There is more then one culture, you realize, and to simply expect one to throw their ideals and traditions away or stash them under the metaphorical sheet is insulting. Would you start wearing turbans and praying to Allah of your own will if you had to move to an Arab nation?

If everyone could simply keep their beliefs to themselves then we wouldn’t have these discussions.

Which is why I believe in personal religions.

If they coexisted peacefully and recognized their boundaries and shit, I’d have no problem with organized religions. But humans apparently can’t manage that.

Religion as a whole is great. Culturally, artistically, and YES SCIENTIFICALLY gasp. But when it’s used as a backdrop for wars and other tension, it’s disgraceful.

As a whole religion doesn’t cause tension. Rather it’s used as a tool or cover to make the conflict justifiable. Most holy wars have been and ARE being fought for land and resources, with god as the pretty face. Even the Israeli conflict (which is what’s fucking us up in the first place) is caused by the fact the US just plopped a country down where people were already living. They just want their fucking land back, of course they resent and hate us. So land is the reason, they just use religion as the cornerstone because it breeds extremists, and extremists make great ammunition.

But that denies the fundamental human tendency to show off. Plus Christianity and Islam both say that they need to be spread, so good luck with that one.

this

You know, migration has always been an integral part of human existence, and only in the past century or so has it become ‘illegal’. I.e. fortress Europe.

A wise man once said, “There is no such thing as illegal immigrants; only illegal governments.”

Honestly, the whole concept of nations and boundaries and such is just plain silly to me. In a perfect world those wouldn’t exist. Of course, it’s next to impossible to get rid of that whole system.

Are you honestly saying that we should have a world government? Are you ignoring the entirety of human nature and it inevitable conflicts? Any world government would devolve into a massive anarchy, before dictatorships begin to form from the ruins of society. That “wise man” is a complete idiot. Plus, migration tended to be to move from one place of suffering to another place of less suffering, bringing the suffering over to the new place, since there is only so much wealth in the world.

I thought England did that.
