Security guards

Well, he references to the incident, but doesn’t specify if the plate was really his; it could have been have been one of his subordinates who complained to him or something. Also, if it was his plate, it’s also possible that he was not the one near the microwave… The guy there could be telling you ‘WTF are you doing [with his meal] ?’
So yeah, Magnusson was somehow involved in the incident, but it’s not 100% clear, so I think this is why the team won’t place him there.

I could be wrong, but that’s what I remember reading.

More importantly, why was Magnusson so concerned about his damn casserole when all hell broke loose not two minutes later? And then went ahead and remembered it for twenty years?

“Damn it, how could today get any worse? We’ve ripped a hole in the fabric of space-time, filled the earth with gruesome, ravenous aliens from a half-dimension, led a super-race of Nazi-like slavers to our planet, and we’re being killed by the military in thousands, and now my fucking casserole is ruined. Why does everything bad always happen to me?”

I lol’d

Sounds like very much in character to me.

Makes sense if it isnt clear who was there. Not that it means… really that much at all. But for me it would add a sense of believeability (however the hell you spell it). I try to pay attention to that kind of stuff when it comes to things like this. Just adds that much more to the feeling of the game.

That is actually… a pretty good idea. I wouldnt mind seeing that either. Either in extremely infected areas, or at least, should any of them make it to Xen, that would be the perfect place to have psychotic security gaurds that are a threat to everyone.

If we’re getting into semantics about this whole thing, then it could be that you blew up his casserole a few days before and that particular one wasn’t even Magnusson’s. I don’t think it’s meant to cause a canon riot, but it’s just that there are several other possibilities other than the one you blow up on the day being M’s.

Microwave Assaserole

Should be an arcade machine somewhere with that like in Doom3.

Of course, maybe Freeman always blew up Maggnuson’s cassarole, and while he was cooking it that day, he was called to another part of the base.
Knowing that Gordon would be in later, he probably told Luther to watch over his breakfast until he got back.
But Luther was too wrapped up in his romance novel to realize Gordon was already in the process of destroying it. And Magnusson has a bad temper.

Not only does he have a bad temper, but that insufferable Luther ALWAYS lets this happen. What with his nose always in those damn novels. Never paying attention to anyones casserole. Lazy good for nothing so and so and such and such. Shouldnt he be analyzing something right about now?

Oh, and dont EVEN get me started on that Freeman character. PEST!

WHAT DID MY CASSEROLE EVER DO TO YOU?! HMMM?!

Shouldnt you be in tEESST chAMbER…

Anyway, I don’t think there should be security guards on Xen at all, especially firing at every movement. Too much of a departure from the original, imo.

I seem to remember a certain peice of media or some such explaining how they were going to have randomized acceories like glasses and I dunno, nose rings and crap? how hard would it be to make the helmets random aswell? I suppose you would have to chop the model up and redo the head for that eh?

“Configuration files are used to load in a unique scientists profile of facial flexes, skin and unique subobjects ([COLOR=‘darkgreen’]such as helmets, glasses, and more)”

oh hey, I’ve just found the answer to the barney helmet Debate.

Dunno about noserings, but I remember something about glasses.

I agree no security guards in Xen, what the hell would they be doing there? But then why are soldiers there also? I don’t understand why anyone apart from the Hazardous Enviroment Branch’s scientist’s are there. Then again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkgXNTpfj6U

That’s an easter egg though.

You answered your own question.

This is what happens when I dont get enough sleep.

I don’t remember any soldiers being on Xen in the original Half-Life.

When did anyone say anything about soldiers being on Xen?

Right about… THERE

Oh, my bad. Missed that part. :frowning:
