Security guards

You should read the facts, many of your suggestion got an answer :

  • NPC like scis, security guards and grunts got different models and races.
  • Otis or overweight personnel won’t be included.
  • No female security guard, only in the sci team.
  • The only gun-hoo in BM will be Gordon Freeman.

I think one of the devs once said that they won’t be making female security guards. This also applied to the HECU forces. Direct quote: ''It might also be nice to mention that we are planning to have a science team of diverse age, gender and ethnicity, so if we could cut down on the “will there be Asian scientists/female scientists/young scientists” that’d be great. The same goes for the BMRF’s security forces and the invading HECU troops in all respects except gender (i.e. there will be no female Barney’s or hgrunts). ‘’

sigh will they at least not be looking identical, like the Barney-Clones in the original game?

In the original Half-Life there was a scripted sequence when entering the Lamba Labs, showing a professor, shakingly holding a shotgun towards the transparent door, and a guard with a pistol. I always wondered why the watchman let the old four-eyes guard the entrance with such a big weapon, and sticked to his puny handgun instead of gearing up. There was enough gear around in that area, as I recall…

Well, it’s just a game… a shot more of realism would have added to the immersion and experience for the players, maybe. But it will be an awesome mod, anyway. So I won’t complain.

Maybe I’m just stupid, or can’t read typos or something, but what the hell is a gun-hoo?

I think he meant “the only gung-ho scientist will be Gordon”, but don’t quote me on that :-/

Because the scientist is closer to the door so he needs a bigger gun. And because security guards only start out with glocks.

I wouldn’t say that the education system itself is horrible, it’s just that none of the kids give a shit.

oh my god. who cares.

perhaps this will put your mind at ease:

HEY, man, the mod’s only been in development for, like, five years. Having more than once face would take at least eight years… let’s not go getting everyone’s hopes up, hmm?

Well pistols tend to be more accurate and are more useful at long range than shotguns, unless they are shooting slugs(which is not the case). Also you actually have to aim with a pistol, shotguns you just kind of point in the direction of the target. I figure since the security guard is trained with weapons he gave the scientist the simpler and easier to use weapon. The biggest thing the scientist would have to worry about is the kick.

You’d think one of those guards would pick up another gun and hold it in his other hand if he came along one.

He could just open up on enemies with dual reprogrammed ceiling turrets with a cigar in his mouth.

WRRRRRRRRRRBUDDABUDDABUDDABUDDABUDDABUDDABOOP BOOP BOOP

GORDON MAN AM AH GLAD TO SEE YOU WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE THINGS N WHAH ARE THEY WEARIN SCIENCE TEEM UNIFORMS

I love you so much for that reference, Ram <3

Reminds me of Sam Vimes (Terry Pratchett: Guards!Guards! and other Books featuring the Ankh-Morporkl City Watch). Who, of course, has many scenes alluded to Dirty Harry (“Do you feel lucky?”). It would have been awesome to have such a character in the game, with a cigar in his mouth, looking old and wrinkled, but with a 44 handgun, a scratchy voice and a really sinister sense of humour.

I know, I know, it’s not gonna be implemented. Seems like that’s exactly what becomes of all suggestions and good ideas. As long as the deadline will be met, I am satisfied - even if none of my ideas makes it into the game.

I think that’s where you’re going wrong.

Yo mama!

Thats MY line. :FFFUUU:

Srsly though, the guards shouldnt be dual wielding. mayybe they SHOULD only use glocks, cause thats all they’ve been trained to use.

:fffuuu::fffuuu::fffuuu:

Shit, slugs are actualy accurate at long distances? That’s freaking awesome!:jizz:
I thought they were still inacurate, since, you know, shotguns are smoothbore :fffuuu:

How are they not trained with MP5s? explain…

ehm… They don’t use 'em? Is that an explanation?

Well, scientists are trained to use them, and I don’t see why the guards wouldn’t be. If you consider BS/OP4 to be canon, then you have an even better reason.
