I was planning on buying a HL pack from gamestop, (all 3 HL2 games, HL:Source, Counter Strike:Source.) and i was wondering if it will include the Source SDK if I register the CD key with steam. I currently don’t have a credit card so I have to buy it retail, and i really want the SDK.
It will get you HL2 SDK, but you need the Orange Box version of the HL2 SDK that comes with HL2: EP2 to play Black Mesa.
But if you register the CD key with Steam, yes, it will still get you the SDK.
We are talking about two different things here!
To play Black Mesa, you need the Source SDK Base (Orange Box) component (not the SDK itself)!
And this one comes with every bought Source game, regardless whether it uses the Orange Box version of the engine or not.
Day of Defeat source or counter strike or any other source game made by valve is enough to play black mesa.
ahh… really?
if you get a sourcegame like CSS you’ll get Source SDK base AND Source SDK base - Orange Box?
Yep. You can download it in tools then. Got HL2 and CSS, Source SDK, Source SDK base, and Source SDK base - Orange box.
Yes… though it’s called Source SDK Base 2007… and actually the ‘Orange Box’ version of the Source engine was originally officially known as Source 2007, but since everyone calls it Orange Box, Valve just went along with that. :retard:
fuck, and I bought my brother EP2 so that he gets that…
