screen shake

dont know if already mentioned. but only a few weeks ago cs:go finally found its roots again and implemented screen shake.

now screenshake is what made CS feel so fantastic.

i honestly cant tell if HL has it, and i am just to lazy to check it out. but what i know: screenshake is a musthave for every shootergame. it is the one reason why CS felt so much better compared to other shooters.

so will it be in there? will it be at least optional? or is BM going to have a lot of distance to CS-behavior and recoil ?

What do you mean by screen shake?

Weapon recoil, I guess?

Yeah, I guess that’s what he means. Just watched a bit of CSGO gameplay on Youtube and there is bit a screen shake when you shoot a weapon, specially an assault rifle. It’s minimal but does seem to give shooting a bit more impact.

spretty cool.

It looks good, and it’s making the 1.6 tryhards reeeeaaaaly butthurt because it’s not identical to any previously released Counter Strike.

It’s awesome. Glorious even. I haven’t even played it, but I will definitely buy it just to spite these fuckers.

But they’ll still be able to do that jump that makes no footstep sounds… or will they?

I like screen shakes very much myself. They give guns additional punch and make damage feedback that much stronger when you get hit, not to mention it makes movement feel more natural when the screen wobbles a bit as you walk, jump, etc.

But that’s for the better right?

To everyone but the people who want Black Mesa to be an exact carbon copy of Half-Life but with better graphics, yes.

Personally, I don’t like the idea of screen shake while moving in a Half-Life game, but I’m fine with screen shake when you fire a weapon or get hit. I prefer having some when you get it, actually.

Hey remember the Gluon gun. In half life it felt like it gave a real kick in comparison to the other weapons, and it was very strong. It was balanced by how fast the ammunition was used up. I hope you guys did not omit any of this, although if you have made it better I won’t mind. :3

Yeah the Gluon gun and the guass cannon seemed to knock you back.

The Magnum in Half Life 2 gives off quite a kick. Is it even more noticeable in CS:GO?

Not really.

I’ve played the CS:GO vmware image, it’s a pretty nice effect when you shoot and the screen kicks back.

Tau cannon. It’s called the tau cannon, damnit.

At least he didn’t say tai cannon.

Maybe he means like when gordon runs or something the screen shakes instead of being completely still with the current equipped weapon jiggling
