S.T.A.L.K.E.R turns four years old

On this very day in 2007, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl was released. Though four may be an insignificant number, it is still important to remember this game as it was an FPS that dared to be outlandish in a gaming generation dominated by the military shooter genre.

sequel

i couldn´t get myself to finish the game. there were some things i didn´t like for example hordes of npcs respawning whenever you reenter an area.
though the athmosphere of the game was quite nice.

edit: the pic above… it’s 50% funny and 50% sad

Happy Birthday Stalker, I said come in, don’t just stand there!

Stalker is a kickass game! By the way, a modder team is working on it’s remake. I think they’re using Cryengine 2. I think their project’s name is Cry Zone Sector 23 . Just google it, they’ve vids on youtube too.

It looks promising, but I think they’ll have to turn to a darker tone. Daylight in the Zone is not about singing and flower sniffing. If you know what I mean.

Cry Zone Sector 23 looks interesting, but it just isn’t S.T.A.L.K.E.R in spirit, alot of what they’ve done to it just seems odd.

what a wonderful game!

Shit… Shadow of Chernobyl was the last game I bought which I enjoyed.

Is it necessary to bold the title of the game?

My experiences with STALKER: SOC and Call of Pripyat are almost as memorable as Half-Life. Overall, and bugs aside, SOC and COP are two of the best games of the decade, IMHO.

Only when it contains a word in lowercase, which could otherwise be confused for splitting two separate titles.

Ahh the memories: vodka, salami and the good old ak.

I forgot how good the story was in this game, I’d love to play a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 3, but they have to fix all the small bugs and glitches, and get some top quality voice actors, preferrably English.

if you remove bugs from stalker, it’s like you make a gamebyro game which has diagonal walking animations
gross

Not if the joining word is clearly a part of the title, i.e. not a conjunctive or contrasting word, or if the title is well know, as it is in this case.

And yeah, as far as I’m concerned the defining moment of STALKER is that one guy out side the bar repeating “I said come in, don’t just stand there”.

Without the bugs it would be nothing.

The Complete mod for SoC made it a hell of a lot more playable than just the patches, which did a fine job in their own regards.

I loved SoC, and hated Clear Sky. Haven’t played Pripyat yet…

you should play it

ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I should have bought it on the last Steam sale, but I can’t download it because my gaming computer won’t connect to the internet anymore…

I need a new gaming computer, but I don’t have the money right now :frowning:

I also, play with the complete pack. Oh and make sure you dont forget about playing COP…good stuff.
