Alright, so this is just a rumor and may not be true at all.
Now, I loved Firefly and the movie Serenity. I think Joss Whedon would make a decent HL movie. Also Nathan Fillion as Barney would be perfect.
BUT FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK I HOPE THIS IS NOT REAL! Half-Life doesn’t need a freaking movie.

As long as it’s not a movie of the game, those always fail. If it’s a different story, like Escape from City 17 or something, then I guess it could work.

A Half-Life movie would be pretty damn hard to pull off, methinks. I’m still waiting for Half-Life On Ice.

I think that would be good, Valve could make that jump since they really havent put any info on it, so that would give the screenplay writers flexibility.

why so pessimist? a half life movie wouldn’t be so bad unless some retard decides to cast some cheesy action star as gorodon freeman facepalming and doing one-liners whenever he sees an enemy…
like andy said gordon shouldn’t be seen at all only mentioned but even that should be something subtle. telling the whole story of the games through other characters would also ruin it. but elaborating an unclear timeframe in the half life universe would be fine. seeing that world from another perspective is not ruining anything.
for example blueshift and opposing force is accepted by the half life community why would a movie be any different?

Instead of making movies about Half Life, they should make a movie about Duke Nukem. Or at least have mechandise about him. I’m talking Duke Nukem toiletpaper that says “Blow it out your ass”, and Duke Nukem cornflakes, which is called Pornflakes.
with valve in creative control, like marvel and iron man, it should not suck ass too badly
While I don’t think the game needs a movie, if anyone is going to make the movie Joss Whedon would be a good choice in my opinion. I don’t think I’ve seen any of his stuff that I didn’t almost immediately like from the start and then be amazed at by the end.
I agree that hopefully it won’t be game based, though, and look at a different perspective on the Half-Life universe.
This may be the only way it would work. I’m interested in seeing what happened between the two games as well, be it as a movie or game.
