RUMOR: Episode 3 or HalF-Life 3 in a couple of years

Being a person who really doesn’t give a shit about Game-wesell10s-Informer’s reviews, upload scans before I come to your house and steal your porn.

Aw, our little 8 year old on the boards gets the terms “remake” and “reboot” confused. How cute!

No I don’t want a fuckin’ remake of the awful game known as Half-Life 2. I want a completely new game that acts as a replacement for Half-Life 2 in sequel to Half-Life 1; but made to where it actually feels like a sequel to Half-Life 1 and not a game of a whole new series with some elements of Half-Life tied in.

Having something that felt like it was from the same game series really WOULD have been awesome.

Haha nice.

too bad that’ll never happen.

Pfsh, I know, I’m typically silent about my opinion on that because I know it’ll never get anywhere, but this douche brought it out. And now I’m angry. Hulk angry.

I had read an interview in pc gamer a while backthat said they were going to releace episode 3 then make Hl 3. Hopefully Half Life 3 will revisit black mesa.

-I saw a mod that I think did justice to the remains of black mesa. It was called provenance . I found it on moddb and it look pretty cool

If this news the OP posted is true, then I’m not that affected by it because I wasn’t expecting Ep3 to be released until at least 2011 anyways.

Also:

I’m such a grammar nazi.

its probably fake but would it really surprise you if they waited 2 more years to release it though?

I’d like both, really.

Half Life 2: Episode 3 should close off the story of Half Life 2, giving a hint of things to come, and Half Life 3 to start an entirely new thing.

Yes. Something new.

Ditto. I had assumed that the whole reason why Episode 3 was going to take so long was because they needed to think up a new story arc for HL3 to replace the one that they intend to close, and that the ending of Episode 3’s arc needed to lead into the HL3 story.

To quote from the OP’s magazine:

"How Long For Half-Life?

Everyone wants to know when the next installment of Valve’s Half-Life is coming out, but answering that question isn’t easy. Loose Talk [the section of the magazine this is posted in] has learned that there won’t be any game from the franchise in 2010, and what will finally come out is still unknown. Will it be Half-Life 2: Episode Three? Or will it be a full-on Half-Life 3? If it’s the latter, we suspect it might be a few years."

So there you go. I had always thought that Episode 3 was confirmed, but am I wrong? Anyways you’ll just have to take from this what you will. With no cited sources, and published in a page called Loose Talk, I don’t know how reliable this information is. For now, unless someone can supply some proof, I’d just call this hearsay.

fucking cocks.

Well, as long as BM releases this year I’ll hold.

I doubt they’ve even started the planning phase yet. Gotta finish L4D 7 first.

I agree with Balls… as long as BM releases I will hold on EP3/HL3.

Im kind of doubtful about it, its Valve though, if we can wait 5 years for a mod, then we can wait 5 years for a episode. Unlike Bungie that takes a huge shit, and flushes the toilet without wiping. (Metaphor) Guess we’ll find out, the whole 2012 conspiracy is based on Valve (The prediction for 2012 isnt the end of the world, its the beggining of a new age, bring it on Valve!)

While I disagree with this a HL2 prequel/HL sequel would be awesome. Can you say “Seven Day War”?

^ Seven hour?

Dixillin: I think the original beta storyline for hl2 with the much darker atmosphere would have been to your liking. That’s one thing I didn’t like about hl2, no dark humor/dark anything.

That’s why I’m waiting patiently for missing info ep 1 to come out. Even though it’ll be like 30 billion years

I like how you are all saying “L4D##”, it’s funny 'cause it’s so not true.

Also VALVe says they’re working on a new IP instead of some sequel.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
