Apple might not be looking to keep all of sony. They could split off the Sony Entertainment branch (or just buy it from Sony, rather than purchase the entire company), and sell the rest. That would get them the Sony movie catalog, Sony music, Playstation, and the entertainment software catalog.
For God’s sake people they are not going to take over your life, slowly absorbing every company they come across. Sony is Japanese. Taking over a Japanese company if you are an American is next to impossible. Move on.

I’m never really so worried about any one or 8 dozen companies suddenly being shitty. Consumers want non-shitty companies, so there will always be a market for that; people will make new game companies if necessary.

I don’t think Apple would be interested in buying any of those companies. If anything I’d think they would buy several smaller companies.
Maybe Adobe, since they make art and design software which I think fits apple’s image, also, apple would then probably have control over flash.
Why does it matter who owns what company? Also, very unlikely Apple would do this. They seem like the type who would want to do everything themselves under their own brand. Plus they don’t seem particularly interested in manufacturing hardware, just selling shit loads of it.
They also both enjoy getting people to buy products for about 10x what they’re worth
Um camera business - iphone has a camera, tenuous I know but you could see the next iphone include a sony made lense and mechanisms.
TV - Maybe a Sony TV with Apple TV built in is on the cards.
I think this is a hypothetical situation where people have looked at Apple’s wealth and Steve Job’s quotes out of context and are looking at what they could do.
A buy out plays both ways, just because Apple wants to buy does not mean Sony, Facebook, EA or anybody else wants to sell.
