Is that the one where Alyx gets really ratty at Gordon for never talking to her or laughing at her jokes and goes off in a sulk, and he has to go pick her some special Xen flowers to cheer her up?
I’m totally playing Sim Tower right now.
PC:
Fallout
Shadow warrior
Duke Nukem series
Monkey Island 1-3
Biomenace
Jagged Alliance 2

Shock Troopers
blazing star
I don’t think you play enough video games.
They’re not retro, they’re just old enough that kids under 16 probably didn’t play them the first time around. We don’t call movies made in the 90s retro. Hell, we don’t call any movies retro. Well, besides Behind the Green Door, but that’s the porn industry. Who can ever tell what the hell they’re doing.
That’s jus the tip of the iceberg. I forgot lemmings, and many other games.
@Psyborg: What makes a game retro? By the way, I am 19 years young
That it was made in the early '80s or before, and isn’t enjoyable on anything except a kitsch “I Love the 80s” level. Anything after that is just an older game (or a newer game, depending on how far forward you go). Consider it in the same terms as pants, or movies. Or pornography.
Ugh! (the game where you fly a musclepowered helicopter in the “stone age”)
Also Phobia II…
Monkey Island
Prince of Persia
the Settlers 2
Commander Keen 1-6
No game made me laugh as much as Monkey Island. Epic dialogue.
Lode Runner: The Legend Returns (circa mid 90’s, still not really retro in time period, but definitely in looks and gameplay).
Amazingly fun game for such simple mechanics and the coop addition was really well implemented.
…
ZOMG! Off to the modding table! I can see the title already:
“Half-Life: Xen-Xen Heartbreak!”
Only for girls who want to be called “gamers” without having to see any pesky blood or gibs! Coz BLEH! That’s SO uncool! That’s for NERDS!
Buy yours now and get a free copy of Nintendogs & Cooking Mama!
…In all seriousness, though, for me, Half-Life is probably the coolest retro game. Alongside Super Mario Bros, of course.
Here’s My List:
Mike Tyson’s Punchout
Half Life
Doom
Doom 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Crash Bandicoot 2
Crash Bandicoot Warped
Sonic The Hedgehog (Genesis)
Out Of This World (Snes)
From the 80s: An action adventure game called Exile on the BBC. This must be one of the most sophisticated games written on an 8-bit micro. It had a huge game world with a semi-procedurally generated cave system (because otherwise it wouldn’t have fit in 32K of RAM), physics engine and AI where enemies could hear you and remember where they last saw you. And the game design was phenomenal. There were amazing ideas here that are still worth looking at.
There are loads of games I still love from the 90s, many mentioned here. I guess Doom (even if Half-Life is the more important game IMO), the Secret of Monkey Island and the original GTA would be my favourites.
Ascendancy.
Little Big Adventure 2
Elasto Mania
Duke Nukem 2
ReVolt
Red Alert 2:Yuri’s Revenge
Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath
I recently bought a book called “The Myst Reader” containing an entire trilogy, and it just dawned on me…
Has anybody mentioned “Myst” yet?
I’m starting to hate you less.
Plus, your threads seem more worthwhile now.
PS: Bald Bull can suck my bald dick!
Anyway:Punch Out! (With Mr.Dream)
Super Mario Bros. 1-64
Zelda 64
Mega Man 1 and 2
DOOM
Wolfenstein 3D
Duke Nukem 3D (Rest in peace, Duke. You don’t deserve a developer like 3DRealms.)
Banjo-Kazooie
Goldeneye 64
Fallout 1 (despite Fallout 3 being my first Fallout game, and being completely awesome, I actually think Fallout 1 is far superior. But like I said, Fallout 3 still kicks ass!)
Retro-Games I hope to play:
Quake 1-3
DOOM II
Fallout 2
Ninja Gaiden NES
METAL GEAR FREAKIN’ SOLID!
There are a few C64 games that are still enjoyable.
The Turrican series being a prime example.
