Research and Development-mod

ROFLOL! Did you make that? Mr. Whirly will be infamous in the mod world me thinks!

No it’s been in the 404 for decades.

Never saw it before, thought it was of Mr. Whirly at first…

I’ll latch on the word “install” you used, Carlos, and assume you used the installer version. I’m pretty sure that the installer wasn’t made by the author of this mod, and albeit it’s silly to think that you could fuck up something as simple as a self-extracting archive, it’s possible. You should try the manual installation with the .zip file, see if it works for you or something. Hell, I dunno. ¯(°_o)/¯

I’ll admit some weird problems with that mod, like the fact that only a select number of people are getting some bugs (OK, only one bug in particular really: controlling Mr. Whirly while already exited the vehicle), me being amongst them :meh:, and for some reason, the dynamic crosshairs and whatnot didn’t work when I reinstalled the mod replacing it with the updated version, but console commands take care of both problems.

As to Radiator, which Psyborg and Patonki mentioned, I was on the verge of installing it after I heard about their second release, but then I saw R&D and the thought of Radiator kinda fell back. I think I’ll just wait until they finish up the whole first volume with their third release, which should be coming around August, and then I’ll download it all. Promise!

And yeah, now that I’m reminded of that picture, I can see the resemblance! Credible or not, I think I speak for everyone when I say Mr. Whirly is truly… “win”. As the mod itself in fact, great mapping, well thought out puzzles (learn a mechanic, use it, use it under extreme conditions/in conjunction with another mechanic, i.e. doing puzzles the right way), AWESOME variety - you ought to play the mod and then replay it, just to appreciate the number of different situations and adversaries (be it electricity, choppers, radiation or zombies) you were put against, and of course, as ODB said, pure fuckin’ lulz. Spoilers: [COLOR=‘Silver’]My favorite moments would be the part where you push a combine soldier with the laminated polycarbonate to get on his cart, which reminded me of the awesome on-rails boss battle in that oldschool TMNT game (Turtles in Time IIRC, may be wrong) and the bumpercart part which involved you, in Mr. Whirly, and three antlion guards. I actually said out loud “God, this is awesome.” at that part of the game.

this was a surprisingly uplifting mod. cute ending, too.

This. I always laugh when this thing pops out.
@Spooks: amazingly enough, I never encountered any problems with the mod.

Just finished this mod, it’s short but fun :stuck_out_tongue:

After I install the N20 attachment to Mr.Whirly, what the hell am I supposed to do? I can’t get back in the car for some reason.

You have to activate the lever on top of the sawblade motor.

Get on top than hit e.

Anyway the most bright impression from the mod was:
I took the gnome > red eyes and sadistic laugh > explosion > red screen > 5 second silence > burst of cracked up laughter.

Srsly, I laughed hysterically for a minute

Ah cheers. Well game ended like 2 minutes after that. Nice game.

I was excited to hear about them making another game, but severely disappointed when it turned out to be an arthouse mod.

Gnome was in second chapter of four.

Noo, I meant after you get the N20 attachment.

I’d play it if it didn’t need Episode 2, because I don’t have it. Seems unnecessary to require Episode 2.

Oh yeah? Why’s that?

I’m with Psyborg in this case.

The guy made it with the Episode 2’s version of the engine, and included episode 2’s scenery, why wouldn’t it not be necessary?

Stop it, he’s probably trolling.

I’m pissed that the barnacles keep pulling me out of Mr. Whirly and I can’t kill them.
