removing npc's from a half-life 2 map for garry's mod

I want to use a half-life map but I don’t wanna have all the NPC’s to worry about is there a console command i can use to remove them or am I going to have to it by hand.

I tried npc_remove and it didn’t work

Move them all to a nice little corner off-screen and give them a shotgun shell to the head.

Enable cheats, look at an npc, type impulse 203 in console.

Yes, but it doesn’t remove NPCs, which would interfere with the purposes of using the map for Gmod it seems.
