Yeah, a lot of old movies and shows have been permanently lost because the tapes are missing, destroyed, or just worn out with age. I think some of the earliest episodes of doctor who are gone for this reason, among many others.
Dan In Real Life. . . XD
Godfather
Citizen Kane
Clockwork Orange
most of the other movies by Stanley Kubrick
I saw Greed. It was pretty cool. I recommend you watch it, but be warned: the ending comes out of fucking nowhere.
Where did you find it? I looked everywhere and I doubt they’d have it at any video rental store. And the ending might have came out of nowhere since the movie was originally 8 hours long and they practically cut it in half for the longest version that can be seen now.
Was it 10 hours of quality movie, or just really drawn out, like 2001? Because I can see why they’d cut it if it’s the latter.
I don’t know, I haven’t watched it. The Wikipedia article says that only 12 people saw the 8 hour cut of the movie and they apparently called it the best movie ever made and couldn’t imagine a better one ever being made. I’d take that with a grain of salt though.
And screw you, 2001 is 2.5 hours of quality movie .
But it doesn’t have 'splosions, loud rock music, or big-breasted young women bending over car engines! (Michael Bay to remake 2001/2010?)
Runs from this thread, fleeing in terror!
Law Abiding Citizen’s an excellent movie.
It’s not.
2001 is a movie about space with a subplot about a monolith.Space is not a mystery to me like it was to the world when the movie was made. I don’t like it for this reason. I can’t understand and respect the movie for what it is, but watching it is a chore.
I actually like 2010 better. It’s a movie about a monolith that is set in space, and the ending actually makes sense (probably because the script was written and finished before they started filming ).
I tried watching 2010 and just couldn’t. I liked the ending to 2001 and 2010 just ruined all the stuff about the first movie for me. And the filming style was totally different due to a different director and it looked lower budget to me somehow. Just everything about the movie turned me off.
It’s almost Christmas. If you celebrate this holiday (and even if you don’t), I recommend the following Christmas movie:
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
I watched it in college for a film history class. :s
It was a feature length cut. It didn’t feel like anything was missing.
