Recommend me a webhost

I’m on the lookout for a good, affordable webhost (including domain name).
I know I could google this, but getting recommendations from people I kinda know gives me more confidence

Webspace and bandwidth don’t need to be astronomical, but should be enough. Can’t really be much more specific as I can’t really estimate how much we’ll be needing.

If you need more information, ask away.

Thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

I used awardspace when it was free, the service was good. These days there are simply too many to choose from. I suggest you get one with low prices that’s closest to your area so you get the least amount of lag.

Also you don’t have to buy the domain with the same company, for example you can purchase a domain with no-ip.com and use it with godaddy or any other host, get the domain where it’s cheapest.

not 000webhost !

^

I use Dreamhost, haven’t really had any problems with them and for what you get its well priced.

I’ll check those out. Waiting for some more suggestions though :3

I am using hosting through name.com (with a domain) and I have no complaints. A lot of nifty free stuff available as well.

Granted my account is free, but 000 seems to have horrible reliabilty, at points in the day, the speed becomes unbarable, somtimes unreachable.

i used dreamhost once. think it was ok?? dont really remember. my website was stupid tho

dewpixel.com - for hosting
https://www.godaddy.com - for domain

I got a domain through one.com once, but I guess it’s mainly for Europe, I think the servers are located in Denmark.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into it

Got my domain through godaddy.com, and I use bluehost.com as the, well, host.

When I considered making a website I was recommended 1and1.com by a webmanagement-savvy IRL friend of mine

Host it yourself with an apache and dyndns!

Nginx > Apache

And yeah, stay away from 000host. My only experience with them was endless downtime and server load errors. I don’t want to know how many people they put on each server.

can’t be as bad as narod.ru, I had 3 jpg files on my homepage and they always took about 10 minutes to load.

so we might actually be getting a server soon, so I’m asking, what do you recommend?

currently thinking of going with https://www.awardspace.com/ web pro plus
