Rambo: The Video Game

Far Cry 1 comes to mind for similar quality of graphics. Call of Duty 2 or 3. They would have been impressive for 10 years ago.

That said, why play a rambo game when you’d have a better time just watching first blood then playing Far Cry or Crysis while it’s fresh in your mind

Yeah that’s true that they’re cutting edge back in the day.

Exactly and also regards to the first blood, don’t forget about rambo 2 (first blood part 2) and rambo 3 also.

It looks far better than Far Cry 1, memory can be deceiving. We might have a “Duke Nukem Forever” candidate here, game on an old engine having been tried to be pushed as far as it can get, hence the uneven quality.

If they improve the way destruction looks, make character faces more detailed so they at least slightly resemble human facial expressions before it releases, then it will be “passable”

For the gameplay, it looks fun, but nah, who am I kidding? Games like Serious Sam and Postal just aren’t in anymore these days :expressionless:
But since Saints Row and alike can still relatively succeed, then why not this one?

Graphics look pretty much like Far Cry 2, minus some of the brown.
That said, I don’t think I’ll ever stop laughing at Rambo’s hair oh my god

EDIT: In that entire trailer, I count 3, possibly 4 sound effects that haven’t already been used in 9781287489146178 games

Enemy faces and bodies don’t look that great

New Rambo Trailer. And it still look like shit.

And here is the Beta Gameplay video.
Note: Now I know this gameplay video is two months old. But I didn’t know they released it until now. So please forgive me for that.

Come on guys, it’s obvious you can’t even tell game of the year material when you see it.

oh wow lol
so this is a shooter on rails where you can only aim, shoot and do some quick time events until you get moved further.

I went to the movies yesterday (saw the Hobbit 2), and there was a couple arcade cabinets there with two rail shooters (Time Crisis 2 and one other one). This game would fit right in. And that’s not a good thing.

Are you guys THAT bored you got to talk about a crap rambo game that everyone knows is crap.

yes

Honestly, if it played anything like this or this, as opposed to this or this, I’d be first in line to play it, graphics be damned.

It doesn’t play like those. This is a rail shooter. In other words, you are unable to control the movement of the character beyond ducking behind a protective game element (such as a wall or a box). Any forward movement is controlled by the computer and there’s absolutely NO exploration.

The rocks look great (those he climbs on)

I think I might have said this earlier but if this game had excellent gameplay and pushed some boundaries in that regard I would be fine with it looking like a PS2 game. But the fact that the graphics are terrible and it’s a rail shooter makes it pretty horrible.

Especially for a Rambo game. A proper Rambo game should play like the first Crysis.

And now, our feature presentation.

Edge magazine was among the more generous reviewers and gave it a 5/10 which according to them means that it’s better than soon to be released Castlevania - Lords of Shadow 2(4/10)…go figure.

It has revolutionary racist hat physics.

Wow. That’s pretty horrible.

I guess this is what happens when shovelware makes its way into the spotlight.

Here is Angry Joe’s review on Rambo.
