Rage

That’s a good question.
The ‘virtualtextures’ folder in RAGE is a bit over 11GB, with another 6GB or so for the multiplayer textures, leaving around 4GB for the rest of the game data (overall install size is 21.1GB ).

A 24-bit 16384x16384 PNG filled with random coloured noise takes around 400MB (saved with Paint.NET - it was using a bit over 3GB of RAM and parts of the interface were corrupted and flickering :fffuuu: ).

Apparently they released a patch today. It will be downloaded automatically over steam, and here’s a link if you don’t believe me.

Oh fuck yes

That patch was released a few days ago.

There was one a few days ago, but this is a new one.

For one you can change the FoV this patch, albeit through launch options.

That patch was released on Saturday, same changelog and everything.

People need to stop associating file size with game length. Just because a game is 20gb in file size doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be hundreds of hours long. Skyrim is most probably going to be much smaller in file size but has a lot more content and length than Rage.

and perhaps sex appeal.

Also girth.

Fixed the problem. NFC why it popped up, but I fixed it.

A thick shaft is always important in video gaming.

And a heavy load.

I tried cracking jokes on the Steam forums when someone asked a similar question, but none of the socially awkward ass burgers on there realized I was joking.

“I dunno, my girlfriend says length is more important than the overall size.”

“Well your girlfriend clearly doesn’t understand how megatexturing works. Blah blah blah.”

:hmph:

haha DUMB BITCH

Okay so I stopped using the rage preview drivers they keep releasing, and went back to the standard ones (11.9 actually), because when I was using them, I got a horrible framerate, but fewer graphical issues.

It would seem a combination of old drivers/patch/rageconfig that I made have finally made it into the game it was supposed to be on release.

There are still a few small graphical issues there (probably because I’m ati), but the framerate on these ‘officially released’ drivers is far better than before, so I guess the patch did do something decent.

I’m just gonna buy the game around christmas time and get a good Steam deal on it. Plus by then, all the fucking graphic issues should be fixed and updated by then.

So i’ll save money AND not have to fuck around tweaking shit.

Well ID are right to stress how many of the issues are driver related. So once they release a new set it should all be fine.

My post on page two still applies:

https://forums.blackmesasource.com/showpost.php?p=416777&postcount=29

Anyone having issues with rage and using a similar setup should follow that post.

Also, I have not installed the newest patches because I havent had a need. I do now know how the patches affect the configuration and settings I recommended on page 2.

I’ve only had texture pop problems thats about it, as far as I can see anyway.

update vs original comparison :

BEFORE.

AFTER.
