No reason why a flimsy looking grate couldn’t support a truck, would just have to be pre-tensioned. Which would be a lot of effort for a lift, but it looks so much better
I like how this supply elevator scene kinda “channels” Akira. Those who have seen the film will know the scene where the General visits the “vault”. Couldn’t find a clip on it on youtube.
Well no, because the question was about how the heavy truck is resting on a thin flimsy looking grate without it breaking. All the talk about elevators like that actually existing is quite… off-topic… :fffuuu:
It’s possible for a truck to be parked on a steel grate.
EDIT: And here’s a mass spectrometer:
The secret one in New Mexico simply analyzes anti-matter alien crystals from a world of floating rocks. (The lift is what was in question and the suspension of disbelief thereof. Sure, you have aliens that shoot electricity out of their hands and a giant swollenheaded fetus that transports you to other parts of alien worlds, but when it comes to the ‘real world’ things such as vehicle transport lifts, SOMETHING has to be realistic.)
