Question to lambda supply elevator

At first ! Sorry for my Englisch  .

Is that the final version of the lambda supply elevator ?

I not hope this.
The heavy truck stand on a “light fence” from this “freight elevator”!

Only a qustion not more  .

ps: I love Black Mesa !

Here’s the thread for minor questions.

I see no problem with using a grating for the lift floor instead of solid metal. It looks better in my opinion.

Think it’s the last one in term of design :

I thought it was glass at first glance :stuck_out_tongue:

No reason why a flimsy looking grate couldn’t support a truck, would just have to be pre-tensioned. Which would be a lot of effort for a lift, but it looks so much better

this one is not the final version.

I like how this supply elevator scene kinda “channels” Akira. Those who have seen the film will know the scene where the General visits the “vault”. Couldn’t find a clip on it on youtube.

I’ve looked online and I can’t find any real world examples of an angled freight elevator shaft. Maybe they only exist in movies and games. :frowning:

It’s nothing like the scale of Black Mesa’s freight elevators, but inclined elevators do exist:

That just boggled my mind there.

Yeah, but I mean larger ones for lifting freight and cargo. All those ones are just for lifting passengers up steep inclines.

I found this, circa 1900.

Well that is pretty much /thread then…

Well no, because the question was about how the heavy truck is resting on a thin flimsy looking grate without it breaking. All the talk about elevators like that actually existing is quite… off-topic… :fffuuu:

I can’t seem to find a real world example of an anti-mass spectrometer :expressionless:

I don’t think of them as flimsy. There are steel grated bridges where all manner of vehicle ride on.

for example.

It’s possible for a truck to be parked on a steel grate.

EDIT: And here’s a mass spectrometer:

The secret one in New Mexico simply analyzes anti-matter alien crystals from a world of floating rocks. (The lift is what was in question and the suspension of disbelief thereof. Sure, you have aliens that shoot electricity out of their hands and a giant swollenheaded fetus that transports you to other parts of alien worlds, but when it comes to the ‘real world’ things such as vehicle transport lifts, SOMETHING has to be realistic.)

boat lifts…from

Seems like a pretty popular method for boat lifts, the whole diagonal elevator thing.

Excuse me, but It’s not off topic, and you don’t get to decide that anyway, I do.

Yes but surely the OP has a say on what his topic is?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
