Question regarding the Citadel.

How did it get there? My theory is this: When you dropped the companion cube into the incinerator, instead of burning, it actually teleported 30 ft. from Breen, He saw it teleport and thought “Huh, what in the world was that?” He walked up to it and thought " Huh, this is cute ".

He then picked it up, and walked a couple of feet, when he tripped over a rock, and dropped the companion cube. The cube then started to transform, seeing as how it was NEVER supposed to touch Earth’s soil. It only took a day to transform into the citadel.

Well, that’s my theory :freeman: Discuss.

my theory is, You’re a dumbass.
this thread is dumb and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Why should i be ashamed of my self? It’s a serious question, but my theory wasn’t. I know the combine put it there, but how

They beamed it there, Piece by fucking piece.

It would also help if you’d put some evidence too, no need to be a prick about this.

Edit: It’s late so i’ll be off.

Sigh. That could have been a good thread. O well.

They BUILT it? They’ve had 20 years or so to get it up there.

Maybe they pulled it out of breens butt.
No really, did you not notice how the citadel was was slowly expanding and consuming everything around it. It is an allegory for the combine.

Structures similar to The Citadel can be seen through the portal rift at the end of Half-Life 2 and Episode 1. Maybe they summoned it like the Protoss in Starcraft?

If they have the technology to beat the entire planet in 7 hours, I would imagine they are capable of building a super structure.

to the OP
I’m sorry for saying this thread was stupid, in your original post you put fantastical portal fancannon up to debate on how the Combine Citadel was created. I, in my then somewhat bad mood, replied in a rude manner. [EDIT In short, I’m a dumbass and I should be ashamed of myself ]
back on topic
I think the combine invasively expanded the citadel from the ground up. As seen in Half-life 2, the combine were still expanding the structure outward destroying anything and everything in their path.

Don’t take this as law, because I don’t remember where I heard it, but:

I heard that they were actually mass produced in a super-massive factory on the combine overworld. And setting up a Citadel is fairly easy, they just slam it into the ground really really hard and really really fast. Kinda like throwing a dart at a wall, except with a giant metal tower several kilometers high.

Must have made one hell of a shockwave though. :fffuuu:

i don’t know if anyone else remembers this, but there was a series of gameplay videos on gamespot in 04, and in one vid the player leaves the train terminal and sees the first glimpse of the citadel. A citizen next to you (holding his ration-pack) looks up and says “Huh, that wasn’t there yesterday.”

always thought that was eerie, if a bit illogical.

Sounds like another theory I heard, that the Citadels were teleported into place, appearing in a millisecond.

I’m pretty sure the canon explanation is that they were teleported. I’m not sure where this was said, though.

As to citadel factories, there’s an interesting fan concept on this page (as well as other goodies):

Wow…Some people on this forum are really agressive…

Your theory Dreo… well I trust it will all become clear in the course of the…well, i’m really not at liberty to say.

“Don’t drink the water… it makes you forget…”

It wouldn’t surprise me if most of the citizens of City 17 weren’t even sure what day yesterday was.

brings to mind psyborg’s vid :stuck_out_tongue:

I think they just teleport to this planet. Of course it isn’t anything like a little zap and pooof…there is a giant building of 500 stores high. It’s more like this:

First the gateway to the combine overworld open’d. Then the Citadel floats out of it, somehow blasted a big hole into the surface, and then the Citadel slowly drops into the giant hole. And from there they put beams into the surface so it wouldn’t slide through the surface like Harry Potter did in the first movie.

So, that’s what I think that happen’d.

I always figured the Combine just you know… built it.
