Psychonauts Problem

I recently bought Psychonauts from Steam. The game ran fine for a while(up until Lungfishopolis) and it still does sometimes. Though I have been getting this annoying problem;

Every so often Raz will turn completely white(no textures) and all NPC models will dissapear. I have also noticed that the floor in the Theater turns red and black. The pause screen is also invisible.

Can anyone help me with this problem? I am running the game on an ATI Radeon HD 4870.

Post on the Steam forums.

2 possibilities
*Your game is corrupted
fix: remove it and re-download the game

  • hardware issue
    fix: update your graphics drivers, update your system, check for compatibility issues with your hardware and the game, Check for faulty hardware.

And as Mangled said check the steem forums, i$10 says some one has the exact same problem as you and some one has already posted a fix.

problem: typing yer problem into google literally has this thread as one ofthe top results. good luck and godspeed mate

to just guess, it sounds like your graphics card has a weird way of dealing with being overstressed. Lungfishopolis was always one of the sections that gave me the worst framerate.

How good is this game, holy shit. The Milkman Conspiracy was just bizzare.

Impossible. Steam does a check of the integrity of the game files before launch; if they aren’t 100% the same as the files on the server, then the game wont start. Redownloading the files will achieve nothing.

I’d bank on it being a graphics card driver issue. The fact that its inconsistent bugs me…

lol, that entire section was pure genius.

“Helicopters can up and down. They can go sideways too but not as fast as planes.”

Genius.

Anyway, as pointed out, this problem has little information on the internet. Thankfully I have found a perfect temp fix. Minimizing the game, then maximizing again…weird.
