Really, you can’t say they have no reason to sue him. Whether or not you agree with the way they run things, AFAIK what geohot does is illegal and Sony have every right to take him to court.
I would be much happier if they did things the way Microsoft is doing with Windows Phone 7, though.

except that what he did is pretty much the same as jailbreaking an iPhone, only the DMCA specifically makes jailbreaking/unlocking mobile devices legal. He only enabled homebrew apps, and the way piracy was previously done doesn’t work in his jailbreak. he has also never had any PSN account.
