Protest for HL3?

That’s true.

Can a mod please close this thread? It’s starting to turn into a flame war. The original purpose of this thread was to notify us Half-Life fans of an event going on to play HL2 for fun or to “protest” or for no reason at all, not to argue.

Last statement is subjective. Besides, with that mentality, does anything matter considering we’re all going to eventually die? I understand you’re taking the “mature” or adult-like perspective and saying it’s not that serious but they’re simply asking you to play a video game for 30 mins (one that I would assume you at least enjoyed based on your activity on this site)…not commit suicide with a lambda sign carved out on your forehead. People do things like this because they’re fans and they know it might get their favorite game in the spotlight. Also, because they know Valve is sometimes savvy enough to at least give them a nod of some sort. Even if all this results in is a small paragraph on IGN mentioning what went down, it’ll at least make people feel like they were part of something mildly amusing.

This thread needs more memes…

MOAR MEMES PLOXXXX!!!

OK.

This is probably just a helpless try to get back on topic but whatever:
Even though I dont think Valve will bother in some way when tomorrow about 30.000 people will play HL2 at once, I will do it anyway because its a good game.

And as some poeple here already pointed out Valve doesnt need to give out anything, they can keep all they got for themselves.
However as a long time Half Life fan I expect at least some tiny bit of info, even if it doesnt say anything about how far Half Life 3 is so far, especially when that franchise made Valve what it is today.

Personally I think that they are working on a complete new engine, maybe even the Source engine from scratch. Otherwise it would be kind of dumb of them because the Source engine cant stand todays standards (any you can tweak and modify it as long as you want, its simply not up to date).
Not that I have my problems with the Source engine but sadly there are more than enough other people out there who think otherwise (I call them the “OMG-GRAPHICS!” people/kids).

As I said, just a tiny info that they are currently working on such an engine would be enough for me to be sure that they are doing their work for HL3.
So yes I will also play tomorrow because there is still a small part in me that has hope for Valve replying to us fans.

What a nice and resounding point.

BACK TEW TEH EYMMAGESS

Blah blah blah.

Did it work?
No.

Yes, I’m from the future.

Do I ever find true love?

So…are you guys going to play from the start, or begin somewhere else?

I might do Anticitizen 1 or the chapter before it, whatever it is.

If I have a save in the middle of the game, which I think I do, I’ll start there. Otherwise I’ll start over.

I’m playing it backwards:

Where I help Dr. Breen put his teleport core back together, and head back out through the bottom of the Citadel to quell a rather rambunctious rebellion.
After making my way to Dr. Kleiner’s place, he teleports me back to a prison where I help put their teleport back together as well, before driving back to the city by coast while the spawning season for the Antlions reaches its end.
Once I get back, Kleiner gives me some more comfortable clothing to slip into, and I get on board a train to help out the next city.

Don’t forget to give back your gravgun to Alyx on your way back and break off with her in front of the metrocops dispatched because of your domestic dispute.

So what ended up happening? I slept through it :stuck_out_tongue: .

11,000+ played during the window. I think there’s still about 300 still left. I played from the start to the end of Water Hazard. I might play more later.

EDIT: Bumped HL2 to 16th place in the most played on steam list. Woot!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
