Problem with dynamic shadows

I am making a custom L4D2 map and I’ve been having some glitches with the dynamic shadows not appearing right. Here is a pic of the glitch:

This random rectangular shadows appear when I aim the flashlight at something. They also appear from the flash when I fire a gun. Sometimes the flashlight doesn’t show up at all. This occurs all over the map in all different places. I have no leaks in my map and hammer reports no problems. I’m not running vis, could that be the problem?

Also, an unrelated problem, all the env-fire entities in my map are set to have a flame height of 8 units, but they show up much higher in the map, how can I fix that?

Help appreciated.

99.9% yes. Try a compile with normal vis and normal rad and see what happens.

Before you run normal VIS, optimise your map by making every brush that is there for detail a func_detail entity, otherwise you will be waiting for eternity for the map to finish compiling.

Thanks, I’ll try that, I haven’t run vis yet because I’ve been too lazy to turn everything into function_details.Does anybody have any ideas why the env_fires are too big? Does L4D2 just not support such small fire sizes?
