Powerlocks

It came to my attention that during episode 1 Alyx comments on how Dr. Cleiner would lock himself out of his office and Gordon and Barney would find the power box to unlock the powerlock. Power locks would make a useful puzzle/route in the game and add to the story line. On a side note, flares should be included in Black Mesa. It makes sense that in an underground facility it would have emergecy supplies like flares, health kits(already in the game) and varius things incase of power outage or other emergecy cases.

What about a flashlight? :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s Dr. Kleiner.

For the love of god im sick to death of people asking for stuff that wasn’t in the Half-Life. Read-the-fucking-forum-before-asking-a-question.

what are you doing here then.

Meaning?

Adding new features is one thing but adding to the storyline something else… at least he’s not asking for including a puzzle before the RC where you and barney race to open the office…

that said, how would adding locks to doors make things more interesting?

never mind, it’s not as if there’s time to implement something like this… so…
inb4powerlock.

unless they already did implement it in some way. The whole thing with the power locks was mostly confined to that darkness level, though. It was just sort of a different looking version of the combine energyball/gate puzzles, or the big ol’ plug and sockets.

doesnt half life already have that feature except that the doors are locked ordinarily and you dont look for a power box but crawl through a vent to go around the door ?

Bscly. And you get to literally spend an entire chapter going around the place to find a button to open a door (WGH)… which is basically the powerbox thing but on a huge scale.

It always occured to me there would be some kind of powerlock puzzle in the game. There was one in OC where a guard’s office can only be accessed through a long vent, and there was also a critical one in Blue Shift.

That joke was old the first time someone said it.

Crap, didn’t see it :meh:

just on a side note, if gordon had only been at black mesa for one day, how is it possible then that he made such good friends with barney and eli and did all this stuff like the Kleiner’s office races etc.?

A] He is awesome.

B] He wasn’t only one day at BMRF. Who ever said so lack common sense.

It’s clearly not his first day, most of the scientists know who he is. Plus, how likely do you think it is that they’d let him do an incredibly important experiment on his first day?

He’s been there at least half a year, IMO. probably more.

exactly… most of the guards are like “oh hai gordon” like they’ve known him for a while and not just the guards in anomalous materials … so ya he spent a good deal of time in BMRF imo

There’s also an oversized powerlock puzzle in one of the levels, I forget the name of it. Except that basically instead of a door and lock, you have a wall, and instead of power to a powerlock, you have a bad-ass combo of 4 overpowered lazors that can cut you in half.
