^this. All you gotta do is keep the orginal Models and Soundtracks. The models should look pretty good since they have been updated with the Ep2 engine and just install a better, higher res main characters, vehicles, and weapons with the old awesome half-life2 tracks and you’re all set.
EDIT: Even with the old Half-Life 2, which I just like better anyway because that’s what I remember Half-life 2 looking like and feeling like when I first got deflowered by it in 2004, It still looks beautful and detailed even with a few minor enhancements like various npc upgrades and other junk like ammoboxes, Father Gregori’s Annabelle, Combine, airboat/buggy, various default weapon touch ups, and City 17’s trash and random props.
Half-life 2 imo doesn’t really need a remake yet ( however HL1-BMS, yes please).
