Colour accurate? Haven;t those CRT’s faded, I’m pretty sure mine weren;t as good when I got rid of them. Also, purely out of interest, whats wrong with widescreens for you?

EDIT: Oh sweet Jesus, I just double posted without realising. My bad, I need some sleep @_@
.

I’m guessing even after they fade they are more colour accurate than some LCD’s, and Widescreen gives less vertical space for viewing web pages and stuff.

Not that I care much, I prefer LCD’s because of the increased sharpness.

I run hardware color calibration on my displays, and while the CRTs may fade over time, I still trust the color accuracy over TN-based LCDs, which only can display 6 bits per channel, instead of 8+. Of course, for the higher-end LCDs, you get 10 bits (or sometimes even 12 bits), but you pay out the ass for a high resolution, large screen displays using those panels. Since the CRTs work just fine, I feel no need to spend $3400 for two new displays…

Widescreen does indeed give less vertical space under regular use, and especially a lot less space for photo editing. A 1920x1200 display has 2.3 million pixels, 1920x1440 display has 2.76 million pixels, and a 2048x1536 display has 3.14 million. Stepping down to a 1920x1200 display means I’d lose 460k pixels or 840k pixels of useful space (my 19" CRT runs at 1920x1440, the two 21"s run at 2048x1536). My laptop uses a shitty 1280x800 widescreen, and it is quite hard to use the computer to do much of anything, after being used to high resolution…

I consider 1920x1080 high res compared to my 1680x1050 screen…does that make me cool?

I don’t think so, since pretty much everyone recommended you buy a higher res screen.

I am totally fine with my 22" 1680x1050 screen though.

Just bought a new comp, 3.46GHz core i7, 2 nvidia 250 GTSs 1GB, 1.5TB 7200RPM, 4GB 1800MHz RAM, what else is interesting, it came from CyberPowerPC.com, and uh, its got a cool case with neon lights inside.

I hope they are not red neon lights or your system might overheat, green neon make your system faster, blue neon make your system cooler. White neon is just hax.

How would green make it faster. They’re blue.

Don’t worry it’s an old joke, almost as old as computer case neons.

lol.

Jesus fucking Christ. I had no idea the case was going to be this big. I have the PC built now (except for my 1TB hard drive which comes in later today) and all is working like a charm… but I have no idea where I can fit this thing! It’s nearly 2ft tall and it is 2 ft deep.

Full ATX towers FTW.

My next case is definitely gonna be a full tower, I have no reason to buy a mid-tower because I already have one that works perfectly.

Intel® Desktop Board DH55HC
4.00 GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Intel i5 CPU
Nvidia GTS 250
Logitech Z-5500 5.1
Samsung 22" Widescreen monitor

This morning I had a

Q6600 @ 2.6
4GB DDR2
9800GTX
Asus P5K Deluxe

Video card died, I think my fucking cat walking around behind my tower shocked the shit out of it and killed the card and possibly my motherboard and RAM.

So now I’m on

Athlon 64 3000 @ 2Ghz (single core QQ)
1GB DDR
6600GT
MSI K8N Neo

So now a scene I was working on in Maya that took 4 minutes to render on my Q6600 takes 30 FUCKING MINUTES.

I hate this shit.

Here is my spec (copied it off of the Windows Experience Index :stuck_out_tongue: ) It cost about £180 from John Lewis Christmas 08.

Backlit displays are the highest quality… no warm-up delays, and they have the same lighting all around, no dead pixels like LCDs.
backlit = best.

Yeah I know, iMacs come with them now, they look sexy :stuck_out_tongue:

oh yes, they ARE sexy
I’m saving up for this.
Gonna be a sexy replacement for my CRT :’)

also~1920x1080 is true HD, with 1920x1200 you still see part of the screen on the bottom D:

My other brother has a 19" version of that (£20 on eBay - might not be backlit actually :S)

I have still a CRT, I wait until those OLED Displays come
