Post your 'puter

Im thinking about selling my comp when I get my drivers license, and the only part that really didn’t make a difference is the 8800, which I got from a friend for free, that I use for physX with my ATi cards. Only like 4 games actually support hardware physX and even those ones ran fine b4 i had the 8800. the rest of the physX branded games for pc use the software version which only runs off your cpu.

Nah, actually it’s not related to weed, the 27" was technically not mine, so my step-dad took it back until he gets his 47" HDTV back, and the 19" samsung was definitely not mine, and the guy who lent it to me needed it back so I couldn’t say anything.

moral of the story: don’t borrow too many things from your friends, you might find yourself giving most of them back some day.

At least I still have my 22" 1680x1050 primary screen, which I paid for, so nobody’s taking that away.

It’s the best keyboard I’ve had but you can’t buy it, it comes with shitty compaq deskpros… Anyone can guess how I got it.

You paid through the nose because you were told it was an extremely rare one off item? You BANKRUPTED YOURSELF GETTING THAT KEYBOARD?!?!!? :open_mouth:
.

I was at this small PC place cuz my friend needed to buy a new fan. They had those refurbished computers in a spot with no surveillance, and I said “I HAVE TO HAVE THIS KEYBOARD” so I shoved it in my huge backpack and kept going.

you make me laugh. and relate.

Sad day.

I wouldn’t have taken it either way Lol…sound like everyone in my high school…always talking about how they ALMOST get busted by the cops…huge sinners.

Sinners??? some of best moments of my soph year so far have been running from cops at house parties, partially because the cops here are soo outta shape and because theres nothing like an alchohol, weed, and adreline fueled sprint through back yards and streets.

Why is there a gun on your desk?

edit:
Location: New Jersey

Ahh now it makes sense…

All stolen I presume?

The better question is, why isn’t there a gun on your desk?

And of course it’s all stolen. Obviously at gunpoint. Why else would the gun be in the picture?

Actually, I was planning to take it down and clean it. Didn’t notice it was there when I took the photo. Not like there are any little brats running around who’ll play with it…

Ah I remember when I had 5 netburst machines in my room, I didn’t need a heater cuz my room was getting hotter by the second.

I used to run a program called the UD agent, which used individual’s computers (during down time) as parts of a massive grid computer to screen for potential cures for cancer. https://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/1255804.stm for more info. I believe 1.2 million or so people participated, I personally donated 12 to 15 years worth of processor time, though I can’t really remember since I haven’t run the program in three-four years, and apparently all records are long gone as the program was shut down in 2007.

Keeping those processors running at 100%, with three large CRT displays (two 21" and a 19"), kept that room so hot that I used to run a fan in the open window in winter and still be warm…which was one reason I stopped participating…

It does amaze me that a q6600 on a stock intel heatsink/fan can idle at 85F or less, while my 3.0E, with a 22 ounce slab of copper and hundreds of copper pins, and with a 119cfm vantec tornado attached to it, tends to idle in the 130F range…And that heatsink is mated correctly…I checked, after getting those kind of readings… Granted, the 3.0E is quite possibly the worst intel Processor I’ve ever owned, relative to other similar processors.

Dude, new monitors. When I went from 2 CRT’s like that to a flatscreen, it was brilliant. I still prefer 2 monitors, but as long as their flat, that’s just fine with me  More deskspace, TO FILL WITH CLUTTER OF MY OWN!!!

old images are nostalgic. @Sersoft, do you still have the pic of my computer displaying on your monitor?

Only way I’m getting new monitors is if I can get two 30" displays running 2560x1600 (or whatever it is). Since I need color-accurate displays, that means I’d need two of the more expensive Dell 30", which last I checked were $2k each. There are a few Eizo color accurate 2x" displays that do 2048x1536 as well, but they are outrageously expensive themselves, and I’d rather get the Dell if I’m spending that much money. No way in hell I’m downgrading to LCDs that only run 1920x1200 or whatever pathetic resolution most LCDs are, not to mention I hate widescreen on my computers. And if I want widescreen, I can run 4096x1536, or I can use my 32" TV. I am rather disappointed that I can’t use all three displays controlled by one computer…but I’ll deal with that. I just refuse to lose 2048x1536 on my CRTs until I can replace the CRTs with high quality LCDs of equal or better resolution.

Oh, and another thing I love bout these CRTs, they have dual inputs, so those four computers are hooked to the three screens there, without using a KVM.

Keep the CRT’s man, LCD’s can only do 60Hz while CRT’s give you 85, if I had a huge CRT like that I would pwn everyone in counter strike.

@Siggs, all the pics I ever uploaded to the forums are on my photobucket album, took me a while to find it but here it is…

My desktop went through like a billion revisions since then…

Last summer

Last Winter

4 screens
3 screens

2 years ago right before upgrading to the amd64
some time way back
also stumbled upon my old laptop

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Case - mid tower
Intel Core i5 750 @ 3.7 GHz
P55-UD5 motherboard
Cooler Master 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
4 GB dual channel DDR3
Sapphire Radeon 5770 1 GB DDR5
Corsair 750W PSU
Windows 7 Professional
Logitech Illuminated Keyboard
LX8 Cordless Laser Mouse
750 GB RAID 0 stripe

built on a $1100 budget.

Adding on:

Cyber Acoustics 68W 2.1 Speakers (already bought)
Acer B243HL bmdrz 24" Widescreen White LED Backlit TFT LCD Display
Radeon HD 5850 to run in crossfire alongside my 5770

I think this will be a nice machine when it’s complete… currently running an old 18" (?) CRT at 1600x1200, 60Hz -shudders-

EDIT: Why do people like “surround sound” so much? With quality 2.1 speakers you can have just as good sound.

^awesome

I remember you posting almost all of those iterations on the forums, I didn;t realise I was such an oldfag
