Post the worst game-breaking bugs

ya know, you could circumvent the door by No-clipping through it into the next area and then quickly turn clipping back on soon as you are in the tram in the next map.

game breaking bugs… lemme see… Sim City 4 Tends to Crash to Desktop for no discernible reason randomly when I’m playing.

Here’s one I encountered in GTA IV. It wasn’t Game-breaking, but it was a bizarre bug. I’d be driving around Liberty City in my Modded-in Ecto-1, Blaring the Ghostbusters theme when the radio would just cut to static. It actually did it for other songs, but it pissed me off when it happened while I was cruisin’ around Like a Ghostbuster, Ignoring any and all traffic laws, and stunting wherever possible.

When they added achievements to Half-Life 2, I was playing and accidentally killed the citizen the console calls “Matt”(for some reason, I was carrying an explosive Barrel, and just so happened to drop it RIGHT where Matt drops down off his bunk, and it Exploded when he dropped onto it) and That kinda broke the scene, so the manhacks didn’t spawn, and break down the door, so I was essentially stuck at that point.

Once when I was playing Half-Life, one of the sets of Doors actually decided to close on the Tram I was riding in and effectively stopped the tram. Its only happened to me once, but by god, it was a weird glitch.

Way back in the day, when I used to play DN3D from a Physical Disc copy, I somehow accidentally got duke to go over the fence on the rooftop in the beginning of Hollywood Holocaust. Surprisingly, there was a small area I could walk around on, but I could not get back unless I restarted the game. I have not been able to glitch out of the starting area of Hollywood Holocaust since.

Add -CPUCount:1 to the command line if you have multiple cores and make sure the .exe is running in XP compatibility mode (obviously) if you’re using a newer version of Windows.

not really game breaking as it is amusing, often times, when I end a Mission in Saints Row 2 and Still have Homies walking around and the Mission reverts back to playable in front of the Saint’s Hideout in the Redlight district, the Homies will get stuck in the walls

Portal 2: i keep getting the “end of playtest” bug

i am trying to finish Half Life 3 before black mesa comes out

Basically any glitch in Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.

Great game plagued with so many sad bugs – thankfully they can be overcame with a little skill and some luck… after 47 times.

What?

Well then hurry the fuck up because we’re all dying to play it.

I think I have been pretty lucky the last few years, only game stopper bug I had was Farcry 2, but not due to doors not opening, but due to a dude standing in the doorway. I He effectively trapped me in a hut and no matter what I did - no escape! I had to reload and lose about 10 mins of gameplay…oh well.

The best game stopper of all time happened to my friend while I watched him complete original Half Life. He killed the big floaty monster (i forget name) and died on the way down on a spike :’( However, the game continued and all we could see was G-mans feet and bits of Xen in the background.:meh:

Finally on the tram, he says ‘Time to choose Mr Freeman, time to choose’ But of cause being dead has the undesirable side effect of not being able to move - ‘Its time to choose’ :[ Then suddenly the tram doors shut and he is transported to a room full of hundreds of feet!:zip: LOL

If you guys want to see a game that’s broken right out of the box then you should look at Stronghold 3! It’s so bad people don’t even want to pirate it!

Modern Warfare 2- the whole game was basically one giant bug

also the bug in Opposing Force that would cause the game to crash in chapter 5

I was recently playing COOP in battlefield 3. A tank was supposed to roll out so we could destroy it and end the extra fucking long mission, but it got stuck on a wall and we had to restart the whole thing :T

Aw. I liked Stronghold - s. Is it really that messed up?

Finished HL3 last week… meh. Nothing special, same old story. Waiting for HL4, I hear it’s going to be great!

Well the most hilarious game breaking bug I ever encountered was probably back in 2001 or 2002. I was playing a run through of half-life for the umteenth time and on the rail ride through, everyone started dying. Literally, as soon as I looked at a any NPC, they would drop dead. After getting stuck on the train when the Barney dropped dead at the mere sight of me I quit in fits of laughter. Something strangely amusing in the absurdity of everyone just dying by you seeing them.

I used to love playing Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader, and even still play it from time to time, but I’m afraid firefly has killed their only chance at redeeming themselves. Firefly is talking about releasing patches to fix the game but they’re going to need more than patches to fix this mess more like a complete overhaul and a free expansion pack. If you want to know more information on how bad this game is, go to the firefly forums people are asking for refunds every second!

The fiasco that was Gears of War (windows) (took me about 3 hours to get the game to even start up, several out of the box game breaking bugs, crash at startup screen.

In Planescape Torment, when trying to get the keys to Delora’s heart from Mirriam, never could manage to convince him, even when i used the walkthrough… always end up pickpocketing them from him instead lol, so not game breaking.

My vote goes to Shadow of Chernobyl, pre-patching. It was rage enducing.

CURSE YOU! Now i have to wander aimlessly in Tvtropes! Beware of that link, mates!
