Meh… me and every single person I know who has any interest in Steam already owns Portal :frowning: . Anyhow this is a very effective marketing move for Portal 2. Portal is an universally likable game, but you had to either buy the OB or put out 10 bucks for the single game, now there’ll be tons of new people falling in love with the franchise right before the release of the sequel (plus the Mac players!).

But wait, are they seriously gonna hand out the SDK content to everyone? :open_mouth:

That’s big… much bigger than making a small 3 years old game available for free imo.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Portal is an awesome game, but you can finish it in 2 hours and it was like a bonus in the Orange Box, so getting that for free isn’t that impressive. But giving access to the SDK content is indeed pretty awesome.

I just hope they don’t release an update in a few weeks removing the SDK content from the free Portal deal :stuck_out_tongue: .

Yeah but you can replay it plenty of times before you get bored, and then there are the challenge levels and the custom levels! Many more hours than 2 from all of that!

I guess, but why would you need to install Mac support into a game that’s running on Windows? Since they had to code Steam differently so it would work on Macs, wouldn’t they know if I’m running Windows or OSX? :brow:

It’s a bit crap for anyone who bought the game in the last couple of months. Bloody portal keeps screwing me. I bought HL:Gold edition, then ep:1 and ep:2, so OB was not a bargain for me, and then bought Portal, and now it’s free. Lol, must learn to wait. At least I got the Id pack cheap.
