I want a crappy PS2 tie-in game based on the movie with soundalike actors and third person camera
I think it could be really cool if done right. I’d like a story of some security gurads and scientists during the Black Mesa incident. Of course we’d only barely glimpse Gordon (maybe in a security camera, or briefly in person). He would be more of a plot device than a character.
We’d follow this guard as he tries to escape, but then he decides he needs to do something to save the other people there. Eventually he’d get rescued by Gordon, (you’d have to find a good moment of a guard in the game. Maybe the one who is running from soldiers in ST?).
Lol the nerd rage is already in full swing. Incredible how riled up some people get about these things…they act like J.J. Abrams is some kind of malevolent demon out to devour their souls and destroy everything they love.
Its not like they got Uwe Boll or anything.
Besides, J.J. Abrams makes some good shit. Loved his take on Star Trek, liked Cloverfield, watched Alias for a few seasons. He’s got talent. Personally I would have picked a different IP to adapt to film, but Abrams could pull it off. Maybe.
Fringe was also really good, and is thematically quite similar to HL. And they’re trusting him with another goddamn Star Wars trilogy.
I think that he’s a good choice.

it would be cool to have a movie where we actually see something based on both aperture and black mesa. and not just a movie made of one of the games already in the series. maybe this is when gabe plans on revealing the story behind Borealis
Fringe is the only thing I like that Abrams has done & even that turned to shit by the end of season 5.
I don’t give a fuck what anyone says. When it comes to movies, I’ve enjoyed everything he’s done. That being said, Abrams IPs and Valve IPs have been sending little nods to each other for a while, so I’m glad JJ is the one that’s doing it. He’s been pretty close to the properties so far.

I’d actually be more interested in seeing them make a game together (which they also discussed) than a movie.
If they did make a movie I’d like to see it set in the half-life timeline and not be like an adaptation of half-life 1 (for example), I’d love to see it set between half-life 1 and 2 when the combine started invading and have the main character someone new or even maybe barney.
