Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC Live!

-double post sorry-

this is my first, medium difficult i think…

Rosie nice map but the last cube, the one you have to catch with the “Unstationary Scaffold” is completly useless, you should make non-portable the wall near the last platform the bring you to exit, or make in connectet with the button… i portaled over the platform and it moved up toward the exit without the cube in place

made one too: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=68652188

Thanks! Just have a go with it, I didn’t really know what I was doing. It’s very easy to use the editor, but quite challenging to create a well designed map.

It’s a cracking little editor for people like me who couldn’t use a professional editor to save his life - I’ll get cracking on playing some of these tonight (as well as build more of my own - spent most of my day drawing designs as opposed to… doing actual paid work…)

updated mine and ive subscribed to all the ones posted thus far, wont get a chance to play them for a few days though, going out of town

and another one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=70268013

Hammer works, now. If you want to share your work but don’t like the new ‘editor,’ you can upload single-player maps that you made in Hammer to the Workshop using bin/p2map_publish.exe in your portal 2 folder.

I think yours was great, I would just add a couple seconds on to the light bridge timer. Also, in that drop/portal room, you could add a small button puzzle or something that operates an angled board or moving platform for people like me who are awful at reaction speed aiming.

@Garcian: I’m going to play yours again when I get around to playing these new ones posted, I think I accidentally skipped most of it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I kind of wish they could include more items to use… for example, the ability to place a portal gun and use pre-placed portals that are activated by buttons.

It’s great…I’m just very slow :frowning:

Mah map.

The objectives may not be clear and there’s at least one intentional trap to get you killed. See what you guys think.

I’ve made a couple maps too.

This is seriously addictive!
Will be sure to check out those made by others on the forum.

I was extremely upset over the blatant lack of spike walls. Or the ability to make something like a wall of lasers flash on and off to force the player to time it carefully.

Nothing says they can’t fix it and add more stuff, this is only the beginning! Also, you’ll notice (and this may be wishful thinking) that the inventory on the left of the screen has a tab called ‘items’… but it looks like they left space for other tabs to go there, as well. Otherwise, why have the single, lonely tab be there at all?

Oh and also, the ability to use different tilesets would be awesome. I love the look and style of the old 50’s testing chambers, or rather testing spheres. So much cooler than the new test chambers.

well if you look in the steamapps/common/portal2/dlc_2/materials/puzzlemaker/palette

you will notice crusher icon and door icons is there and some other stuff this may tell us it will come later

but i want this to be added

  • ability to disable the blue lines
  • ability to create co-op maps
  • more stuff to use

Lucky for you, out of the goodness of their heart, Valve made this weekend Steam Workshop Madness. You can buy Portal 2 at 66% ($6.79) plus Skyrim at 33% off ($40.19).

I love this new editor! Portal 2 is sure to have great longevity now.
Here’s my first attempt at chamber creation : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=70286022

My first map, Blueberry Gelatin. Turrets, Repulsion Gel, and one lonely Companion Cube.

The second one (Beta Carotene) is going to be longer and is nearly finished. My third is in the thinking stages. So far each of my chambers uses a single gel type.

I love this editor. I’ve made two maps so far, they live here
