POrtal 2 OST

Robots FTW sounds more and more like a midi every time I listen to it.

These aren’t real. Half of these (Reconstructing Science and Science can be Fun) are just extracted from trailers, Alive and Kicking is from the ARG, and I don’t know where the hell Robots FTW came from. Android Hell, probably.

Which trailer has the whole Science can be fun song?

And notice that in none of the trailers does it have the whole “Reconstructing science” song. And the recording from E3 doesn’t have the beginning part or the ending part and is a lot longer.

Maybe, one of them will be played in Radios, or somehow in this way. I doubt they are ambiente songs.

Try comparing it to an actual midi song.

That’s a horrible example. A Midi orchestral piece can sound almost real- it all depends on what library the midi file uses to play itself.

Turns out the Robots FTW thing is real, portal 2 endings are on youtube, will put them in a thread for those of you who just can’t help but watch…like me :frowning:

Do you have no free will at all? How do you lack that kind of self control?

Most of the music in Portal 2 seems to be dynamically generated- music cues are used for stuff like the levitating machines or the jump pads, and those cues are layered over the ambient music track, which intensifies if the turrets are shooting at you. I’m guessing they took a few cues from Left 4 Dead.

Yeah. That’s a + from me. They knew how to use the music correctly.

wow this is why you dont listen to ppl on forums that get stuff out of their ass, the music in portal 2 is a masterpiece, not like this crap posted in here ;D

They judged the whole soundtrack just because of 4 songs. That’s why you should never do that.

no, some idiot posted fake songs that he found on net, thats what happened here ;f When i saw this thread before game was released, i was like " wtf is this fake bullshit" didnt even bother to open the files ;]

But all the tracks were real.

edit: cept maybe the first one.

I love Robots ftw

Now that it has some context I really like it.
It’s so painfully 1991-93.

pretty sure the midi one isnt in the game also O_O

I think it was part of the ARG

Nope it’s in the game during the coop credits.

After hearing the actual soundtrack, I have to say I absolutely love it. None of these songs are really in-game songs (Science Can Be Fun isn’t even in the game, and Reconstructing Science is only there for 10 seconds, Alive and Kicking was just for the ARG, and Robots FTW was the end credits song for co-op and not really in-game music), so don’t judge the OST at all based on these. I love the orchestral music that REALLY adds emotional depth to the [COLOR=‘Black’]Wheatley Takeover scene, and mostly everything else is equally good, if a bit dischordant at times
