Has anyone got a clue if a working one exists?
Because I want to access the chat and can’t even run the damn thing on work.
I know of a way to make any program a ‘portable’ version. Don’t know if you’d be able to play games on it, but the idea behind it is that you can set up individual programs to run inside a virtual machine.
I have a video, but it’s like 200 mb in high res. I’ll see if I can megaupload you a copy.
edit
Lost the video, but if you have a demonoid account I can forward you the link. PM me whether you have an account or not, because I can get you one.
You can just copy steam on your usb key and run steam.exe on any PC you want.
Steam doesn’t store account information in the registry, just make sure to never set it to autostart on startup, or you would get an error after removing the usb drive.
If you’re gonna run a virtual machine like level, I recommend Sun Virtualbox, it’s fast and supports many features. (although VmWare has better graphics support IMO)
See, the problem is I’m on job now and sitting the whole night here. I needed to know if I can find a quick solution to launch steam on the comp on my job.
Looks like I’m going to have a lonely night xD

Seems to be legit, the guy just compressed the steam install dir and made it an exe self-extracting archive.
https://www.mediafire.com/?g0pby0kz2gl here’s the link incase youtube is blocked at your workplace.
Well, that would effing cool if it haven’t been already tried out with no success.
I dunno, maybe that’s a stupid firewall or some sort of buster I don’t track.
The admin is a blithering bastard.
EDIT: Damn thing hates me.
I’ve got a very cool standalone non-steam version of CS 1.6 (without hacks) with a built in serverlist, but I bet you can’t download torrents at work.
Nah, just needed chat))
I think I can handle it, with Crank 2 on HDD
Sent you the PM.
thx a bunch
Ha, desperate to hang out with your Walrussy buddies while at work, were you?
Hm… It’d be cool if you could get Steam chat on mobiles etc…
Nice reason to dismiss you…
Steam has their own protocol, that’s why when my ISP blocks access to the internet, Steam and CS still work flawlessly, except for the steam community webpage.
lolwut?
it happened only 3 times so far. >_>
something about not being allowed to host servers…
ye yahoo messanger has his own protocol too , wonder if there’s any hack to use it as a proxy :-?
No.
Hey fuck you, I just wanted to play CS : S xP
haha just kidding.
Fuck it, I don’t work there anymore, as you already know <;{D
He’s probably talking about port #80
maybe write a petition? xD
It’ll have to be an internet petition: everyone knows they’re the only kind that work :retard:
