Okay, so it just started happening and I have no clue why. Every time I tough the dash and equals keys they turn my volume down and up respectively. I can’t type using those two keys now. This is probably an easy fix but I have no clue how to do it.
keyboard brand/model?
Use a pair of pliers and remove the keys, then switch the keys out with ones that you never use. That should fix the problem.
Is it just that particular keyboard? I had a problem like that awhile ago, and I did what omega said to do. I used 2 numbers from my keypad, because I have two of every number on my keyboard, so it makes sense…
It fixed it nicely.
when a key gets stuck/stops responding I remove the controller board and clean every other piece with rubbing alcohol
Well, it’s a laptop. It fixed itself it seems after shutting off my computer and turning it back on.
if you have a stuck key it just means it was pressed when the computer was turned on, could still be a physical problem
Sounds like you had a Function- (Fn) key that was stuck, or just being pissy.
Somewhat related, my new cheapie laptop actually inverted the function-key’s functionality. It has all of its shortcut things assigned to F2 through F12, and I have to stroke Fn+F11 to activate F11 instead of triggering “Mute”.
Definitely just a Fn key thing… Some keyboards have a Fn-lock, so that was probably on for some reason. Take a close look at your keys, you should see some icons or something about this.
dell?
i would say this, because the same thing happened to me
Compaq, actually (a.k.a. HP).
Did Dell also invert the Fnctionality?
Yeah on my mom’s netbook, all the F keys do is change the volume or brightness or some shit unless you hold Fn.
there is an Fn-function on 7890uiopjkløm,.- for me
hmmm, an interesting problem
