PLEASE HELP! convert .ppt to .avi?

I have a 4 minute powerpoint presentation I want to put up on youtube. It has 49 slides, transitions, music and pictures included in it. I have looked far and wide for help on this, and all I find are worthless dead ends. Looking up youtube’s help, they have a few ‘suggestions’ which again, turned out to be dead ends.

I have tried:

  • “Wondershare PPT to YouTube” but that puts an ugly splash logo on the screen.
  • “E.M. Youtube Video” but that gives me an avi that is only 7kb big and it doesnt open or play. (its BROKEN!)
  • “Free Screen Recorder” but that has audio issues
  • “ScreenToaster” but that has audio issues
  • “BB FlashBack Express 2” Recorder but that puts it into a useless format
  • “BSR (Bulent Screen Recorder)” but that puts a logo on the movie

So is there a FREE program out there that:

  • Does NOT put a logo on your presentation
  • Converts your ppt to another video format (a format that youtube likes)
  • Does not kill your powerpoint transitions
  • Does not kill your audio

:s hakes fist to the heavens:

ideas anyone? Am I really going to have to fork out $50 to get a program to give me my powerpoint in avi / mov / wmv format???

PM me or post ideas please.

Jing

Well you could try to find a program that convert your PPT to a video format, then convert the video to a format that Youtube likes?

imonfire… are you joking?

Thank you mattemuse. I will look into that. =-)

You could use Fraps in a pinch if you’ve got vista and enable recording of the DWM.

Fraps wont work because it’s trigger is cause by a 3D engine using DX.

Camtasia is the answer, it can record what ever you want, the whole screen, a selection of the screen or a certain program/window.

But i lol’d when I clicked this age and the banner is advertising some PPT to DVD video software.

As for the cost issue.

coughkatzcough

Which is why I said it would only work through monitoring the DWM in Vista (which is 3D).

I see, said the blind man.

Well, no. Why?

imonfire sweety… You said "Well you could try to find a program that convert your PPT to a video format, " but that was the whole point of this thread. I was looking for a software that will convert my ppt to avi.

:chuckle: you so cute!

You forgot the second part :stuck_out_tongue: . I said you could convert to any video format, then convert it to the desired format. But I think you already got your answer

If mattemuse’s link doesn’t work out (because capturing seems to be part of the ‘Pro’ version), you could try CamStudio, though it might give some problems with the sound (they can be fixed by connecting your line-out to your line-in).

Well folks, here are my findings of all advise given thruout the net:

BSR Screen Recorder 4 - Worked nicely, and while it put a small logo in the bottom right corner it is not too intrusive. However the quality was not the greatest and due to its nature, (it is a screen recorder) it recorded my mouse reaching over to turn on the presentation and then later turning off the presentation. The result is that I had to use another program to crop out the unwanted parts. Oh and the size of the avi was huge. UCK!

PresenterSoft PowerVideoMaker - Worked ok… but it put a big “UNREGISTERED VERSION” logo in the bottom right corner, and again the size of the avi was huge. UCK!

Leawo PowerPoint to Video - Worked nice AND it while it did offer a watermark in the upper left corner, it is not too intrusive. Quality was nice and OH, the size of the avi is MUCH smaller than some of the other results. YEAH!

Moyea PPT to Video Converter - Like Leawo, this worked nice, the watermark in the upper left was not too intrusive, the quality was nice, and the size of the avi is much smaller than the other results. YEAH!

Jing had audio issues… as in it didnt pick up the audio at all.

I was going to try Camtasia but seeing how these other avenues didnt give me audio issues, I figured I didnt need to go there.

I would have preferred to NOT HAVE A FLIPPIN LOGO on the screen, but you cant always get what you want. :s hrug:

In the end, both Leawo and Moyea were equally great so from now on I will be using one of these for my presentations.

THANKS A MILLION!!!

That works as long as you convert to one of WMV, Ms Mpeg4 AVI, or MPEG.

E.M. PowerPoint Video Converter has audio issues and it also kills the powerpoint transitions.

I’m too late… but I used the Moyea one myself a few times in the past. I had presentations with blue backgrounds, so the logo was pretty much invisible anyway… I even remember making a gradient blue background that would camouflage the logo :stuck_out_tongue:
Except the logo has some shadows, but to present on a TV screen, no one ever saw it.
The other programs I had tried for this either could not do the transitions well, or they did not support a looping presentation (which is what I needed). I actually needed a DVD format too, and Moyea did it itself, without the need of another conversion.

you can try VideoPPT ( videoppt.com)

Well, besides E.M. PowerPoint video converter there are a lot of free PowerPoint to video converters at:
