Photoshop CS3 - abandoned?

Hey guys.

So, I’ve spent the better part of the last hour wondering…
Since CS3 is now like the fourth newest version of Photoshop available, released in 2007, most likely completely abandoned by Adobe…

Does it classify as abandoned? How does the law generally look at usage of “illegal” software if it was abandoned and surpassed by newer versions years prior?

Anyone got any clue? Or better yet, an excerpt from actual laws citing such situation (if there are any, heh…)?

I’m kinda over illegal software. But devil wants it, I could really use Photoshop (for more than the month the trial offers, duh) for school. And some more personal things. While at it.

And since I’m a student, I don’t have a job. Not that I could justify a roughly 15 grand purchase (20:1 economy in Czech Republic, remember?) if it’s close to a cost for a new computer (not top-of-the-line, but hey, wouldn’t be years behind, either) anyway.

Thanks,
Serza

Adobe made Photoshop and CS2 available for free at the beginning of last year (not sure if that still applies) - maybe they’ll do the same with CS3 eventually.

Sounds nice. I’ll do some research and think about settling for CS2 then.

As far as “abandoned” software, I don’t think that really exists as far as laws go. It’s still someone’s copyrighted IP, even if they don’t officially support it. I think it’s entirely up to Adobe whether they want to do anything about it if you get caught.

I tried Photoshop CC, still didn’t see any reason to switch, went back to photoshop 7.0.

Well, technically they didn’t. It was supposedly a mistake.

Ah. Didn’t know that, just remembered reading about it back then - probably should have looked into it a bit more before posting.

Sorry Serza

Sucks to be me.

Ah, whatever.

I’ll learn in GIMP (I THINK that one’s free…) and pass it off with “Oh, yeeeaaah, suuuure it’s Photoshop, dear teacher!”

GIMP isn’t free either, you pay with your soul.

Fuck.

GIMP is great.
GIMP is love.
GIMP is happiness.

Yeah, you should do GIMP if you can. I find the interface far simpler than PS’.

you can still download cs2 from adobe i did it the other day. gimp blows

GIMP is alright, I’m using it in combination with Darktable. Some functions are a bit hidden but it mostly works great.
