Need to play more than the demo son, allow me to show off some screenshots I took :retard:
(I’ve modded it a bit though so it looks a lot better)
Also here’s a off-screen trailer of Crysis 2 :jizz:

well yah graphics aren’t everything but they can be one of the most important things if used correctly.
Atmosphere is one of the most important things in games for me. I liked to be immersed in a game and graphics can help that greatly.
@The can: :yawn:
Yes, atmosphere is very important. Mass Effect 2 is probably the best example of graphics done right. It looks great (the best looking game I have ever seen), isn’t a bitch to configure (probably because it does it by itself), runs amazingly well on my PC (which was built with the just the Recommended Requirements of “The Orange Box” in mind, so it’s not the best), and, most importantly, it’s an amazing game!
But games like System Shock 2 and Half-Life were able to immerse you into the game without the most up-to-date graphics. I will never forget the time I ducked in my chair while playing “On a Rail” for the first time… over 10 years after the game was released.
People said that Half-Life had amazing visuals when it came out. You’re just a little slow to the plate, really.
Yah but as the years go by our expectations go up.
I still love my NES games but I expect much more out of games today compared to 20 or more years ago.
It was immersing and amazing back then because there was little you could compare it to at that moment.
And as the years go by you may start to imagine the game looking better than it really is. I remember playing FF8 and being amazed at the cg and backgrounds but when I came back to playing it 8 years later I noticed the changes were a lot greater than what I was imagining when I had nostalgia for the game.
Well first of all it’s not my PC, but it was two 4870’s in crossfire.
Didn’t say it was always 60fps , but it never went below 30.
You don’t understand. I said I was so immersed into the game, I ducked in my chair while playing when something moved toward Freeman’s head!
And this was just a year ago, the first time I played it!
THAT, my friend, is a real masterpiece.
Well with 2 4870s I would expect it to be on heavy areas are 34 fps.
ATI didn’t do as well on crysis as nvidia did maybe the game was built for nvidia cards.
Wow I never do that…you must be easily amused.
Although games that really get me jumping(not out of chairs) were the survivor horror games.
Parasite eve 1&2
Resident Evil series (4 and 5 weren’t scary) Only part that was kind of scary was in 4 when one of those minions of that Neapolitan look-a-like was chasing you in an underground tunnel.
The RE 0 and 1 remake dazzled me when they first came out
Clocktower series
Silent Hill series (number 3 was my favorite number 1 and 2 were great too, I didn’t like 4 or 5)
Dino Crisis 1 and 2 ( the one in space was horrible!)
I know, it ran almost slower than my 9800GTX+ but I sold that card because a 8800GT is good enough for me.
Thank you for missing the point.
I do understand. I’m saying that the graphics were pretty revolutionary for its time. And I’ll agree with you that Half-Life is extremely immersive. It’s on my Top 5 favorite games of all time.
@RyviusRan: The fucking edit button is there for a reason. Don’t double post.
I just watched Pandorum on Justin.tv and I wish they would make a video game like that.
Dead Space is kind of close, but I want a game that messes with your mind like that movie.
You know something like Eternal Darkness did. I remember one event in that game where it pretends to erase the data from your memory card and I was like noooOOOOOoooooo!
Or when you walk into a room you are on the ceiling.
With modern day graphics there is a lot to offer to freak people out. It took me only a few seconds to think of a cool idea.
How about having your character in first person come to a mirror and look into it only to see your head get cut off in the reflection and while in first person view the camera swings around randomly like your head is falling from your body.
I think that PC gamers and Console gamers are in for a big surprise with Crysis 2…
Judging by the GDC videos, the engine is EXTREMELY well optimized and looks VERY good…
Check it, you won’t be disappointed:
