PC Prob

My Mum asked me to have a look at her pc, I fixed it straight away and had it back up and running. (Replaced the hdd and clean install)
I noticed the amount of dust in there so the next day I decided I’d clean it out.
Cleaned all the fans, gfx card and heatsink. Then put it back together and it didn’t power up.
Tried another power cable, still no power.
Replaced the PSU twice, one psu gave a brief millisecond of cpu fan life.
Unplugged all internal hardware, (agp, pci) still no power.
Swapped the power switch with restart switch, still no power.
Checked underneath the Motherboard for rougue screws shorting the power and none there.
Bought a new motherboard and still no power.
Any ideas what this could be?
And before anyone asks… I followed all anti static procedures.

You reinstalled the cpu cooler upside down bro.

Well, that’s what happened to me twice before, if not that, well… your ram or CPU may have died of static shock.

What’s your moms number, I think we may be able to get together and work this whole PC probl out.

Daaamn your mum is going to be pissed at you.

What did you use to clean out the PC?

water probably

Seriously though next time use a can of compressed air.

Did you plug it in?

Are BOTH the 4pin and 24pin installed correctly?

I did that once. ]:

your avatar is terrifying

Are you sure you put the RAM back in properly? Try taking it out and putting in back in again. Happened to me once, I was really pissed until I realised my mistake! :stuck_out_tongue:

I suggest taking it down to the most basic set up.
Remove the mobo from the case, and just include cpu, ram, and display adapter (if it isn’t onboard of course )
Hook up the PSU to the mobo, short the power pins and see if it posts.
A couple possible trouble spots is certain mobos won’t post unless the CPU fan pins are shorted, so either make sure the cpu cooler fan is hooked up to the proper fan header on the mobo, or short the pins.
If it posts, start adding components until it fails.
If it doesn’t it might have been something you missed.
Just a couple ideas

On the issue with pins, make sure all the pins are in the correct places.

Like max said, make sure the PSU and mobo are working, if the LED on the motherboard turns on neither of those are the issue, and let us know what happens from there.

Also, I did this once, I took the heatsink of the computer, and when I was reattaching it, something didn’t work out right, and I busted the motherboard. That client was not happy.

There’s your problem sir. No waters are to put inside of a pc.

What? Raminator isn’t anonymous, everyone knows who he is.

Everyone here is hiding behind a nick name. Though it seems you know his nick name, you still dont know him in person.

That is why I stand by my comment and love anonymity.

Ramenator isn’t hiding behind a nick name, anyone who’s seen his portfolio website knows his given name. I love the irony here.

And we have a great ‘ass-feeling’ picture of him.

Cheers sersoft, the heatsink was upside down. It was a socket 462 mobo, cpu heatsink. I hate those heatsinks!

She’s 57, do you still want it?

Nope… a paper clip

Where the fuck did I mention Water? Moron!
