I want a force-feedback keyboard/mouse. DD
I agree. When comes ot Valve games, itâs PC>All else. I wouldnât say PC>All else overall (we have our own opinons), but with the Source engineâs modding community, itâs no contest for which version of a Valve game you need to get.
âŚunless you have console only frineds and want to play L4D2 with them.
Iâve recently played the xbox1 version of hl2 and it totally sucks, some parts they added these completely random rooms out of nowhere, for example when you see the headcrab shells for the first time (right before the airboat) you are in a completely destroyed place and then boom youâre in a room with a light on top. Doesnât make any sense to me.
Hi, been lurking a couple of weeks now since I found out about this. I wonât gush like a noob, so on topic.
I was given the original Xbox version of HL2 for my 15th back in '05, and having since played the PC version, I can say that the console version differs majorly in a few areas. I will list the differences.
XBox HL2:
Pros: Well thought out inventory system for the controller, big combine walls make huge creaking, grinding and crushing noises, ummmm
Cons: Frequent load points, redesigned levels, removed content, lower-res textures, lower poly count models, less effects, looks overall quite rough, no modding, slow and stodgy looking controls, where are the headcrabâs teeth?
PC HL2:
Pros: Modding, looks awesome (textures, models etc), larger levels, less load points, extra content, keyboard and mouse combo, more effects.
Cons: Big combine walls make no noise, still no headcrab teeth, ummmm
So yes, basically, PC HL2 > Xbox HL2.
The headcrabs have teeth. Little black triangles under the fist-looking part of their heads.
No I mean the teeth in their mouths, not the claws on their feet. Take a look at one in HL1, youâll see what I mean.
i think youâre a bit confused.
Most likely itâll be during or after the release of Episode 3. Provided they donât upgrade the Orange Source Engine too much for it. Then again, maybe theyâll release a full out âUPGRADE EVERYTHINGâ that will upgrade HL2 - Ep2 to whatever Engine Ep3 is running on.
I just wish itâd be possible that the mods could benefit from the upgrades without having to completely recompile them, but I guess thatâd be asking way too much.
If itâs anything like L4D2âs graphics, that would be an awesome upgrade.
Consornit, google fails me. Take a close look at a headcrabâs mouth in HL1, you should see sharp protruding teeth along the sides. In HL2, the entire mouth is just a black hole on every species. Obviously Valve just couldnât be arsed putting the detail in for whatever reason. (raises flame shield)
Or they decided to change what headcrabs look like. Itâs not really a big deal either way.
Yeah, probably, I was just trying to get my point across. Also, has the monkey resolved the conflict between its brain and its tail yet?
Nope, still working on it.
On topic, the fast headcrabs freaked me out when they died and you got to see their mouth. Itâs all stretched out and huge and gross. Like Steven Tylerâs!
On FPSbanana, thereâs a fix for that.

Also, look at all the stuff by this guy, he made a lot of fixes for the game.
This is one of the things I really enjoy more on PC games, is that the screen is closer, and TVs just donât beat computer LCDs, I never liked TV screens much.
Iâll have to check that tomorrow, as itâs far past my bedtime and I need to get to bed. Cheers for that mate.
I believe you are mistaken about HL2 for Xbox1 yes the graphics and lighting are duller due to the developers conforming it to the Xbox1âs Coppermine Pentium 3 and Nvidea X3 GPU. The only thing missing in the game is objects in the background like buildings, this only happens with exteriors or out doors. This is because of Xbox1âs limited RAM of about 64 megs, as far as every thing else goes, all the levels are there from the PC and all the same content is there too. I canât remember witch Xbox Magazine, it was the XBM before HL2 launched for Xbox1. Valve Stated that nothing was missing from the Xbox version of HL2. I deal with the other short comings but the framrate dipping while the full on physics engine gets hammered by a ton of particals in the background during firefights hinders the game a little for me. But Im still impressed with how well the rest of the game runs especially since the minimum system requirement is 1500 Mhz 256 MBs of Ram, The Xbox Runs it well on a scale from 1 to 10 that being a 6 for the Xbox. Not bad for an Xbox that is only 733 Mhz, 64 MB of RAM. Donât knock a good contender!!!
