Today I was wondering:
Oculus + Mirror’s Edge
I’d probably shit my pants at the first jump.

Would be cool if they added OVR support to the new Thief, so you can actually lean behind corners without going into third person.
Oh man, I was going to hold out for the consumer version, but if they’re not expecting to release it until late next year, I might have to re-think!
Fucking acrophobia, man
Yeah, the opening to Mirror’s Edge always makes me squirm.
God, I would LOVE to play that on an Oculus set. Half the fun of ME is seeing the batshit insane skyline scroll below you as you jump between buildings.
I think that the disconnect between your view moving so much and your body actually being perfectly still might cause nausea, though.
i cant wwait untill a vidfeogame is so real i straight up puke
I’ve been dreaming up stuff like this for years now, and if it works as well as they claim it does (which it looks like it will) they can have all the money.
Sorry if this counts as a necro, but have you guys seen the third party drivers for the Rift? They’ve managed to get Black Mesa to work with it! Imagine walking down the corridors of Black Mesa as if you’re really there, and having headcrabs jumping straight at your head!
I saw an article that explains how to build one yourself and it’s not at all expensive.
It IS more expensive than the dev kit though. The plus is that you can use better hardware (higher res screen, full positional tracking, etc) if you can afford it.
oh maybe I already had most of the parts that’s why I thought it would be cheaper than the RIFT
-snip- found it
Good post
[COLOR=‘Green’]Mod: Unlike this one.
[COLOR=‘Purple’]Me: Touchè
I mean, you could build a joystick for slightly cheaper than buying one too, but that doesn’t really mean doing so makes any sense at all, unless you’re incredibly bored.
Or you’re sersoft and have parts lying around.
Fair enough.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
