Oblivion GOTY or Not

I have a question for any Oblivion fans out there.

Should I buy the Game of the Year edition (the problem is I am buying it for PS3, and there is the infamous Bloodgrass glitch) or the non-GOTY(no terrible glitch but no Shivering Isles)

Is the Shivering isles really worth it?

Can’t you just buy Shivering Isles off of the Playstation Network?

Or why not just get it for computer?

Shivering Isles is quite good. I definitely recommend it.

More money and the Vampire Glitch remains.

My computer isn’t too great, I need nice framerates. Besides, I prefer playing atmospheric and long games on my PS3.

Edit: You can’t download it from PSN…

In that case go for GOTY Shivering Isles IMO is better than the main quest of Oblivion itself and the Isles are incredibly badass

Shivering Isles is certainly worth it IMO. Mainly for Sheogorath’s character. His diologue is bloody brilliant most of the time.

Some very nice new quests and items as well, including a very nifty weapon that can be gained quite early on. The disadvantage being that it kind of makes combat very easy. Nice armor as well. It terms of extra play-time, it’s certainly worth it. The ‘main’ quest took me around 5 hours (as far as I can remember, though the last time I played was around a year ago and I’ve since traded it in) with a few extra side-quests to boot.

If you can save often just before encountering these glitches (forgive me for having no knowledge of them) then it is worth it.

I got Oblivion GOTY for the PC (strangely I can’t find anyone else who got it too), and if it’s the same as PS3 I recommend it. It’s simply Shivering Isles, Knight of the Nine and Oblivion all in one. Shivering Isles is very good, but Knight of the Nine is pretty deceiving tho, since the armor and weapon you get at the end aren’t reparable and the quest is pretty long i you do it at a low level.

You can repair them at the stand also it re-levels them when you reach the next level so they get updated to be more powerful. (I feel lame for knowing that, but less lame knowing I know that only because I read the guide online.)

Well, I quess I can pass on the new Wolfenstein for a while, so I may get Oblivion and Halo: ODST.
So, is Oblivion just as fun as Fallout 3, or should I just stick with Fallout 3?
Judging from the constant bitching from hardcore Fallout 1 and 2 fans, Fallout 3 is just Oblivion with guns. So, using that logic, Oblivion is just Fallout 3 without guns. To me, that’s removing half of the fun, because Fallout 3’s weapons own!
Also, from what I’ve seen, the voice acting is super cheesy.

I had it for both the PC and the Xbox 360. I’m assuming the PS3 version is basically the same as the Xbox version, which I didn’t have any real problems with. Still it’s better on pc (mods).

IMO Oblivion is better than Fallout 3. But some may disagree. My brother being one of them :meh:

Thanks for all the replies and opinions, I am definatly going to buy the GotY edition. Right now.

Oblivion on PC is where it’s at. Modding ftw. Sadly, in order to make Oblivion actually fun, I have to mod it so much that it doesn’t work. :frowning:

LOL!!! I know what you mean. hahahahaha

but yeah. PC oblivion FTW.

Is it true that Shivering Isles adds 30 to 40 hours of gameplay to Oblivion?

If so that is an absolutely ridiculous DLC.

With all the exploring I’ve done in the shivering isles (Of which I’m about to go do more right now) on the PS3 version, I’ve racked about an extra 20 hours into my save file, after just beating the main quest. I doubt it brings it up to 40 hours, but there is a lot to be done in addition to the MQ. GOTY version was a godsend in my opinion because Shivering Isles wasn’t on PSN.

Indeed… it does…

Oblivion + Official Addons + SI = Epic

And on PC (no consoles, because consoles sux)… more mods = more fun

I recommend you guys who have the PC version to download at least:

… and this is just a little part of what I have installed to Oblivion :stuck_out_tongue:
And “Lost Spires” adds at least more 15 hours of gameplay to Oblivion

Don’t forget ‘Illumination Within’, which lights up towns at night and makes it look absolutely gorgeous.

^ That is a great mod, especially on higher-end details. Everything looks great. Myself, I just downloaded that Lost Spires mod, and it’s really good so far in. Thanks for the mod list.

I would buy it on PC if I had the chance, but my PC is barely good. Also I can get into the atmosphere of console games easier, because i’m not sitting upright.

Yes, I am an idiot, no-one has to tell me
