ITT: Selfish capitalists expecting society to work by paralysing the government.
There are other oils however that produce VERY quickly. Algae, for example produces mass (and by mass I mean much quicker and in greater quantities than Earth) amounts of oil when it consumes CO2. Not the same kind mind you, but still usable as a fuel. Why not use the CO2 wasted from our industries and make Algae farms or something that can use that CO2 and transfer it into something usable?
I’d also like to point out the extreme numbers of high ranking Earth quakes that have been plaguing the world the past two years. I know it’s an average number compared to the trend of, well, forever, but that doesn’t mean we should be turning our already deteriorating crust into swiss cheese.
You’re cute
:fffuuu:
Source? How can you accurately measure that we have 40 years of oil left? Have we even seen signs of running out? Given that the earth is millions and millions of years old, there’s still material under pressure that’s millions and millions of years old, there’s still oil being created as we speak. Do you not understand how frikkin’ massive this planet it? Yes, it’s pretty damn small in comparison to many of the things in our universe, but it’s damn huge if you really think about it.
thank you. and you’re an incredibly ignorant, typical conservative.
lern2Barbara Ehrenreich
It doesn’t matter. There is no reason why we should still be using oil in the first place. If the governments would quit bitching so much and focus on proper budgeting towards alternative fuels we wouldn’t even be here right now discussing this.
This is the garbage I was talking about earlier. Shut the fuck up. It’s the stupid fucking back and forth bullshit that gets our world nowhere.
you too, Omega
Good contributions brother
my pleasure. i imagine it must get pretty suffocating in that narrow mind of yours
Universal health care is not socialism. And where does he support wealth redistribution?
And this illustrates a fundamental lack of understanding about what drives wealth in this country. If it is, indeed, “hard work” that leads to wealth, then waitresses, dishwashers, janitors, hotel maids and trash collectors would be the richest people on the planet.
I’ve got news for you: YOU ALREADY DO. You can’t get away with it unless you were to totally pull yourself off the grid and become a hermit…or leave the country. In this country, we have a civilized society, and we pay for that civilization. Some, however, want a free ride; they want the civilization but don’t want to pay for it.
Seriously if your just here to provoke argument, get out.
Yeah, we all have been since forever. And guess what, the country keeps collapsing.
Yep, because we keep trying to pull back on things that help this country in the name of “small government”. I vehemently dislike the idea of small government; it illustrates a lack of understanding. No, I’m not for big government either, so get that out of your mind right now.
Go into a supermarket. The shelves are nicely stocked. There are employees in the aisles ready to assist you if you need help. The lines at the register aren’t long because there are enough registers open to accommodate the number of customers. Everything is bright and sparkling. The bathrooms have not a hint of vandalism and it’s also nicely stocked with the sundries.
Now, go into another supermarket. There’s a single stocker who is working 16 hours to keep the shelves stocked but is unable to do so or order more items when needed, so shelves go empty. There is a person to clean, but he’s home sick right now, so the deli slicers aren’t clean…but there’s no one to slice any meats or cheeses anyway. There’s a single cashier with fifteen people in line with full grocery carts and he’s working 16 hour shifts, too. And let’s not speak on the bathrooms, okay? What’s that that just scurried under your cart?
The first supermarket is more expensive and the second is cheaper.
Which would you rather patronize? The so-called “big government” first supermarket or the “small government” second supermarket?
Both, as neither have gotten rid of the human manager.
Why would you say that, baconeggs?
A government will always be problematic so long as it’s run by a human with biased opinions. Elections are meant to fix this but it’s really more of a stop gap solution every few years.
But, wouldn’t you rather patronize a supermarket that was being run well versus one that wasn’t? If you had the power to change the manager of the poorly run supermarket to make it more like the other, would you, even if that meant higher prices?
With unemployment over 20% now, there’s no reason why the second should be understaffed.
Omega_Absolute: Because, to keep prices low, they don’t hire as many people. Less employment related costs means lower prices, right? It has nothing to do with how many people are begging to get a job there; it has to do with the fact that the manager just isn’t hiring.
I thought this supermarket was a representation of the government, not an actual supermarket? :S
It is. In order to keep taxes low (after all, “taxes are BAD!” right?), the size of government (the number of employees) has to shrink. And a government (supermarket employees) that functions the least functions best, right?
