I want to start this thread out mutually so im not gunna post my thoughts, but please, discuss.
eh, ATI.
I like both. Shut up.
don’t be a fanboy. always buy the best card for your money, it doesn’t matter if it’s nvidia or ati.
i agree, but i tend to use ati the most.
I will admit tho, that Nvidia cards tend to be more reliable than Ati cards. I’ve had a couple of Ati cards that fried on me while the Nvidia cards I’ve had simple got outdated, but still work.
I got ATI. Not being able to do the PhysX thing is kind of annoying but it works really good besides that. But yeah, I’d just go with buying the best one available, no matter which company makes it.
Though I was told that ATI cards generally run cooler than Nvidia cards.
I’ve got an ATI right now, but my Nvidia served me well. Well the second one did. The first one was a broken 7900.
I prefer ATI but I’ve been stuck with nvidia for the past 3 years.
I prefer ATI for one reason: matching the video cards from both companies performance-wise it is clear that ATI’s cards consume a lot of less energy.
Just buy whatever has the better price/performance ratio.
Nvidia gives you Portal: the First Slice, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, Half-Life 2 Lost Coast and Peggle Extreme, whereas ATI only gives you Lost Coast and Deathmatch. So Nvidia.
I buy cards from nv and ati, depending on performance/price ration and power consumption.
I had 2 Nvidia Cards in the past, the first one was the 6600GT and the other one the 8800GT and now I have the AMD HD5870 and it works without any problems and has enormous raw performance, that’s awesome for OpenCL stuff like smallLuxGPU.
I don’t miss physX, it didn’t do much anyway and Bullet physics will have OpenCL acceleration soon, means it’s not only restricted to Nvidia cards
Still sitting on an nVidia 6800GT, and waiting for that single GPU card to beat Crysis, which will probably be the GTX680. Dropping a zero feels like downgrading, though. Regardless of that classy X.
i always buy nvidia cards, they are clearly the superior master race. videocards from ati are shit and cheap lol

o rely? cuz i had an nvidia geforce 8600m gs for less than a year and it fried on me. but i have had this ATI Radeon HD 5730 for more than a year, and it runs a lot cooler, faster, and all around better than my nvidia card did
whichever one i can afford.
I typically end up with ATI cards. I don’t prefer one over the other.
NVIDIA - CUDA/PhysX, solid drivers, good performance but higher prices.
ATI - good performance at lower prices, many problems with drivers (ATI tends to release beta drivers which can make your card shit itself).
And don’t say that PhysX doesn’t do much.
