noob question

I just got a g11 logitech keyboard and I am wondering if it is possible to create programs that open programs, like uTorrent. Thanks.

Like make hotkeys or something?

Make it so if I press g1 uTorrent or another program starts up.

You might be able to do it with some programming though I have no idea how, sorry. And do you mean F1?

If the keyboard comes with extra buttons its driver usually has a config thingy to set what they do, but they are not always as configurable as one would like. Check out what TweakXP has in the way of config for extra keys too.

Logitech g11 has extra programmable keys, g1 through g18.

Yeah, it’s got a config, but I can’t find any way to use the config to set it to open a program. I’ll check tweakxp, except atm I am using my mom’s computer because my computer just got completely fried.

I got the same keyboard. I’m not much help, but I do know that there are websites out on the internet for that particular keyboard and configuration. People that like WOW and other mmorpgs use thoes keys for bindings and other stuff.

I think my new keyboard was the culprit in frying my computer, I still haven’t got it fixed and I won’t be able to until I talk to my computer friend who I haven’t been able to get a hold of.

I sure hope so!

Thanks, I went through all of the above except the assign shortcut part. I didn’t see that option, maybe my driver is old and doesn’t have it, or I just didn’t notice it. Either way, I’ll have to wait to find out because I got to have a computer expert friend of mine take a look at my computer and fix it.

Yeah, if a keyboard has extra keys it should come with some way to program them. I’d like to have one of those keyboards actually. Sorry for not being much help.

np, Ramminator gave me the answer.

I really suggest buying it. When I boot from cd the keys light up and it is beautiful (the keys don’t light up while booting, and other than booting the windows xp cd that is as far as my computer will go), I’d really suggest it. I think all the extra keys are a tad superfluous, especially because it makes the keyboard to long; I have to put my mouse on top of my desk instead of in the keyboard tray.
